Buffer's simplicity has led to a reputation as the tool for creators and people just starting out. That part is true: we have 150,000+ active creators on our platform... but it's also only half the story. Some of the sharpest teams in tech run their social on Buffer: ElevenLabs, Remotive, Binance, Pinecone, Sentry to name a few. These are companies that could build or buy any tool they want. They chose the simple one on purpose. And it goes well beyond tech. Castrol, WIRED, ASICS, and Oakley trust our platform for their social needs as well. The reality is that simple and powerful do not need to be opposites in your martech. A lot of teams are tired of bloated platforms, endless feature menus, and contracts priced like enterprise software for the sake of it. They don't want more surface area. They want less friction and a tool the whole team can actually use. Just because you are well-funded or a multi-billion-dollar brand, doesn't mean your social tech should be expensive. More brands are realizing they get more done with one simple, connected platform than with a bloated tool priced to match. We've never believed it should be any other way and the teams moving to us seem to agree.

I've been sharing more about our AEO strategy and learnings at Buffer lately, and the community response has been better than I expected. The conversations and ideas coming back have been the best part. That's the real reason to build in public. 💪 On a related note: I'm a fan of this share card the team recently shipped to our Insights beta. You can generate one on the fly, by channel or for the full account, across any timeframe and share directly to any social channel.

A bad hook almost guarantees your content goes unnoticed. But a good one isn't luck or magic — it's four things working together: format, platform, psychology, and the algorithm. Tamilore Oladipo broke it all down for the blog: the psychology behind why we actually stop scrolling, how to write hooks for text vs. video, and why the same line can pop on LinkedIn but flop on TikTok. The full guide will be in the comments; save it for the next time you're filming!

Today, June 5th, I'm celebrating 7 years at Buffer. (If you are doing the math, yes, my first day was a Wednesday) It is the longest I've ever worked anywhere. A few years ago that would have felt unusual in tech. Engineers tended to hop jobs to fasttrack growth/salary/challenges. Maybe this is not the case now, I don't know, but it was definitely the norm. What got me reflecting on my years here and my motivation to grow, was rethinking part of a system I proposed and built about 5 years ago. But staying somewhere long enough shouldn't mean settling, right? It can mean growth too. I personally see it as the organic kind of growth, which is the kind I like best. You evolve alongside the system, you sometimes hit its ceiling, and in my case, I just think I didn't know better back then. So now both the company and I have outgrown where we were 5 years ago, and I feel it's time to rebuild and make space to grow further for the next 5-10 years. I'm looking forward to my 10th anniversary, when I will get to look back and figure out which of the systems I'm building today need rewriting next 😅 🥂
