Reflecting on an inspiring time at IBM TechXchange 2024 in Las Vegas! I had the pleasure of meeting with our talented university students from across the globe who showcased their innovative AI use cases. Their projects included 1. a real-time flood monitoring solution that uses traffic cameras, Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze social media, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for urban flood management 2. an energy efficiency model created from building blueprints 3. a virtual pet app designed to offer personalized content to support seniors at home with engaging conversations and essential reminders 4. an AI powered platform designed to transcribe, translate, annotate, and analyze customer calls 5. a watsonx powered rescue robot for disaster zones designed to communicate with survivors and guide rescue efforts. Their creativity and drive give me such confidence in the future of AI, and it was thrilling to see the passion they bring to tech. I was also honored to announce the winners of our TechXchange watsonx Hackathon! The participants’ solutions demonstrated not only advanced technical skills but also a commitment to solving real client and societal challenges. Congratulations to the third and second-place finalists Team Golden, and Team EYers! And a special shout out to the WINNERS, Team Daimyo, a student team from PES University! Built on a Granite foundation model, “Daimyo” automates and streamlines data access for restaurants, offering custom alerts for restaurants, allowing them to better engage with customers. The hackathon was very competitive so kudos to everyone who participated. As part of our commitment to giving back, IBM was also proud to donate over 1,500 backpacks with school supplies to Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, and provide career advice to future tech leaders through CareerVillage.org. It was a very productive, inspiring, and fun conference and I look forward to returning next year! #IBMTechXchange #watsonx #AI #Hackathon #IBMSkillsBuild #IBMImpact Lydia Logan, Sowmya Kannan, Claudia Cortes Romanelli, Sara Link, Carmen San Segundo, Leslie Hernandez, Lee Wilson, John McNamara, Roberto Villa, Martin Maehler, Matthew DePace, Ayal Steinberg, David Jenness, Dinesh Nirmal

So, as some of you might’ve heard, our EY team ( EYers) snagged second place in the global Hackathon organized by IBM at the #TechXchange conference! Pretty cool, right? Huge shoutout to to my teammates: Daniel, Łukasz. We even ran an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session about our idea. It was a great way to chat about #BussyBee, get some feedback, and answer a few burning questions. We also had the chance to get feedback from a speaker coach and a Toastmaster pro( thanks Paul). The tips were super helpful, and I mean, who knew one of them involved glasses? Congrats to the first place team (Tushar and Suhas) for their idea on boosting productivity in restaurants and the third place crew (Itelvina and others) for helping students make data-driven decisions about their futures! Once I’m back in Poland, I’ll share a full breakdown with numbers, outcomes, and what's next. Big thanks to everyone who had their fingers crossed for us! #Hackathon #SecondPlace #EYers
