Orb reposted this
OG #NY members gathered at Loreley for an Oktoberfest-themed meetup filled with steins, pretzels, and sharp operator conversation. What started as a casual catch-up turned into deep discussions on mentorship, data operations, and modern pricing models in the age of AI. They dug into the idea of bidirectional value in mentorship — how senior operators can learn just as much from their junior counterparts today. Bryan Schmitz and Jed Bradshaw from Orb walked them through how his team built a clean, centralized dataflow that multiple teams rely on, sparking ideas for how others could streamline their own operations. From there, the conversation flowed into metered billing and AI consumption — how companies are tracking OpenAI and AWS usage, what challenges exist at different scales, and where a platform like Orb fits into the value chain. That led to an even bigger topic: the future of pricing models in fintech and how billing platforms might one day help customers track COGS directly (though not yet!). Huge thanks to Orb for sponsoring, and to Bryan for bringing so much practical insight to the table. And thanks to our chapter lead, Chase Mazur, for helping lead the change. And to everyone who attended — Evan Rich, Valentin Recker, Faraz Siddiqui, Ian Deutsch, Xilin Zhang, Salvatore Tirabassi, Tim Salikhov, CFA, Melanie Rohat-Meheust, Jason Singleton, Scott Bieker, Chi Le, and Antonia Abraham. Always a blast seeing the OG NY crew connect, share, and build together.
