It underscores what we see at Oula: the demand for midwifery care is there, the proven outcomes are there, and now we need to work to increase access. I’m optimistic that data like this will encourage more and more hospital systems to integrate midwifery care into their services. This milestone represents a day of significant firsts—Oula's first expansion outside of New York and Stamford Health's first midwifery offering. Both teams have worked incredibly hard to bring this partnership to life, and we couldn't be more excited to offer midwifery-led maternity and gynecology care to families across Fairfield County and Westchester. For many of us in the maternity care space, last week's FDA panel on SSRIs and pregnancy was a disappointing reminder of how women's holistic needs are often overlooked and downplayed in the traditional pregnancy and postpartum experience. We were heartened to see American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)'s response, which underscores the importance of supporting patients' physical and mental needs. At Oula, we know mental health is a critical and non-negotiable part of overall well-being and have integrated mental health support into our care model from the beginning. We also know that every person's needs and experience are unique, and this drives us to provide individualized, comprehensive care. We are lucky to get to work with our incredible midwives, OBGYNs, and care coordinators every single day to make this a reality.
