Choosing between an injectable (like Wegovy) and an oral (like Rybelsus) GLP-1 drug involves more than just effectiveness—it’s about adherence and patient comfort. Dr. Rani Aravamudhan of Artemis at Nomi Health discusses the trade-offs with SingleCare: - The weekly injection can be convenient, but self-injections can be difficult or uncomfortable for some patients. - The daily oral pill (Rybelsus) has strict rules (empty stomach, small amount of water, 30-minute wait) that can make long-term adherence challenging. Ultimately, Dr. Aravamudhan emphasizes that managing chronic conditions requires a team: "Other than your primary care provider or endocrinologist, it may help to manage chronic conditions... with guidance from other healthcare professionals, [like] nutritionists, mental health professionals, personal trainers or exercise therapists."
