Building collectable fandom with heart, hype and a hoodie. Fellowkids is a boutique creative and marketing agency dedicated to building brands that fans genuinely love. Rooted in esports, they’re experts in connecting gaming and entertainment communities worldwide. Studio Kiln worked with Fellowkids to create a brand that doesn’t just speak to fans but behaves like one — emotional, expressive and ever-evolving. At its centre sits the Fellowkid: a hooded character shaped by the culture of fandom. The hoodie speak it’s own language, becoming a shared signal of belonging between fans and the worlds they champion. The identity comes to life through a colourful, Y2K-inspired visual world and a collectable vinyl toy that turns the logo into a tangible piece of fan culture. The result is a brand that reflects Fellowkids ambition — generating fandom with heart and authentically connecting with new fans across an ever-widening world of sport and play.

Creating a brand system that puts ITV back at the centre of British entertainment. ITV has been broadcasting in Britain for 70 years. It has an established and loyal audience and is well known for being the home of award winning drama, global sporting events and family favourites, such as X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. The introduction of their streaming service, ITV X in 2022, led viewers to a single, digital destination, but with multiple channels and multiple ways to view content, ITV were losing brand clarity, and were keen to point audiences to a single destination. We devised a system that simplified an extensive brand universe and positioned the master brand back at the centre of the conversation. Used by millions of people across Europe (and beyond), Vinted is an online marketplace on a mission to make second-hand the first choice worldwide. Kiln worked side by side with the internal design team at Vinted to help them translate their brand idea, ‘New Again’ into a refreshed visual identity. The company wanted to retain its recognisable, handwritten logo. So together with the Vinted design team, we built the identity around this, unraveling the script to create a colourful, flowing line that guides us through the Vinted journey. From discovering that ‘must have’ item, to connecting it with the user and celebrating that New Again feeling; the line weaves its way through an array of lively image frames, designed to add tactility and life to a familiar digital experience. Vinted’s colour palette was extended to allow the brand greater distinction from an increasingly competitive market and to allow them to communicate to an ever growing audience. At the core of the brand, we tweaked the famous Vinted Calypso, darkening it in tone and pairing it with a new colour - Mint, to allow for maximum legibility and a more refined palette. Calypso still takes centre stage, whilst our new secondary and tertiary colours form a colourful supporting role. Check out the full case study of the project over at https://lnkd.in/eewU43Vz

Last week Charlie and Nathan took to the stage at Common Interest to talk about the importance of serendipity in design and how making room for surprises informs our process at Kiln. A huge thank you to Daisy Crowder at Craft for inviting the studio to take part. It was an incredibly inspiring event and an honour to take to the stage alongside the talented teams from Reed Words and FIELD.IO. Thank you so much to those who came along. It was great to meet so many of you. Make sure to get along to future events. Daisy and the team at Craft are on to something special!

We welcomed Falmouth University to the studio to meet our team, explore how we work and share our ambitions for the studio moving forwards. Being based in Cornwall is a really important part of Kiln's story and we were thrilled to partner with the University on this film. Living in a rural area comes with its challenges. But it allows us to be part of quieter conversations, consider other viewpoints and find fresh stories to tell. We want to be a destination for ambitious designers, keen to find new ways of working and we'd love to be part of the reason that creative talent stays in this county instead of being tempted away.
