Athar Hafiz worked with me at Chef Works, where his job was designing the emails we sent out. He was great at it ✅. But it was a fraction of what he's capable of — the guy builds things, automates things, and finds smarter ways to do work that most people just accept as tedious ⚙️. What stuck with me most wasn't the skill, though. It was how easy he made everything. Kind, sharp 🧠, genuinely invested in making the work better — not just doing the task in front of him 💛. But it’s a tax: - A few minutes here. - A Slack thread there. - A link that “should be right” but isn’t. Individually, it’s nothing. Collectively, it slows everything down. Most teams don’t notice it happening. They just think: - “Let’s clean up the folders.” - “We’ll organize it later.” - “This works… for now.” But that small question is often the early signal that your workflows have quietly outgrown your tools. I was reminded of this speaking with Amanda Stuckey, who helps VerTerra Dinnerware organize their product and marketing assets. Before they changed their process, something as simple as sending a distributor the right product image could turn into a chain reaction internally. Someone searches. Someone double-checks. Someone asks if it's the latest version. Multiply that by sales reps, partners, and distributors… and suddenly something that should take seconds takes minutes. Or longer. The interesting thing is Amanda didn’t start by asking - “Which tool should we buy?” She started with a better question - “How do we make it easier for people to get the right asset without asking someone else?” That’s where the real improvement happens. Hi Everyone! Ian Parkes Just confirming that Stockpress is an absolutely great tool. As the video said, I've been dealing with asset management for over 2 decades when these types of tools hadn't even been invented yet. I just decided I was done pretending to be someone smaller than I am. Two weeks later, my bookkeeper emailed me. Revenue was up $50K. In one month. I didn't change my offer. I didn't change my pricing. I didn't hire anyone new. I changed who I was being, before I had proof it would work. Here's the mechanism, and it's not woo: Your brain does not store memories like a video file. It stores them like a document that reopens every time you think about it, and resaves on close. Neuroscientists call this reconsolidation. Translation: you are not waiting for some future version of yourself to arrive and finally feel worthy of the results. Something's buzzing in my head and I know if I don't get it out now, it'll be gone soon. So I quickly sketched the idea. Raw. Imperfect. Don’t overthink it.
