Tess van Stekelenburg
Tess works alongside engineers and scientists to invest in & build companies that push frontiers, in a variety of sectors including biological data, compute & the world of atoms. She likes to start things from scratch and is driven by individuals tackling areas with strong counterfactuals, such as “how different will the world look if this vision is brought to life”.
Before joining Lux, Tess led research in Computational Neuroscience in London and Oxford and helped found a company in East Africa. In her Neuroscience research, she leveraged 2-photon optogenetics and 2-photon imaging on neural circuits in the hippocampus and the entorhinal cortex to help elucidate how we form, and navigate internal spatial maps of the external world.
Originally from the Netherlands, Tess obtained her MSc. in Neuroscience at The University of Oxford and studied Biological Sciences at UCL. To rest her brain, she runs marathons and climbs mountains.
