Bowbows[1] are dog-like enemies in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong (Game Boy)[edit]

Bowbows are enemies in Donkey Kong, appearing since Stage 1-1. Bowbows walk astray on their platform and turn around when they reach an edge. They do not attempt to charge at Mario, but they defeat him if he runs into them. Standing on them is possible, and they can be picked up and thrown at other enemies. If Mario approaches them with the hammer, they run in panic in the direction they are currently facing, which might actually bring them closer to Mario.

Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]

In the Super Mario Kodansha manga, Bowbows appear in the Donkey Kong adaptation.

In the bonus chapter of Super Mario: Donkey Kong 1, a Bowbow is one of the animal attractions in Peach Zoo.

In Super Mario: Donkey Kong 2, a Bowbow is seen with the other enemies building the Tower and attacking Mario and friends in chapter 2 until Monchee interveens; and in chapter 3 one is seen helping the Kongs fight the Kremling Krew, until DK and Donkey Kong Snr. are knocked out, causing the Kong army to retreat after the defeat of their leaders.
