Directional Blocks[1] are objects in Super Mario 3D Land. Each of these purple blocks has an arrow on each side. A Directional Block can be hit from below by either Mario or Luigi to make it travel in the direction it points to for a distance that is roughly half of its height/width, usually allowing the player character to access certain blocks and collectible items. A Directional Block's positions can be reset by restarting the levels in which Directional Blocks appear.
