Hola Amiga 9: A sick man only wants one thing

Your point of view shapes how you see and experience everything.

As Confucius said, "A healthy man wants a thousand things, a sick man only wants one."

Life gives us signals, both physical and emotional. If we pay attention, they help us stay on track. If we ignore them, things can get worse.

Gratitude is a superpower.

It helps you see the value in what’s already around you.

HOLA AMIGA 8: PERFCeT - A perfectionist's guide to going crazy

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.”
- Mike Tyson

Lately, I’ve been thinking about intent, expectations, and how we interpret outcomes.

Unhappiness = Point of View × (Expectations – Reality)

Many have spoken about the beauty of imperfection. Take Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese philosophy that embraces impermanence and incompleteness. I have my own version: PERFCET. It’s about striving toward a goal while staying open to unexpected pivots, detours, and discoveries... often better than the original plan.

Most frustration lives in the space between expectation and reality. Perspective determines how we experience that gap.

“We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.”
– Seneca

HOLA AMIGA 7: Presence / Time Machines

There’s something pure about the present moment. Unlike the past or future, it’s harder to cloud it with hopes, fears, regrets, or overly romanticized memories.

I’ve got a few “time machines” that bring me back to the present moment: exercise, being in nature, riding my motorcycle through the mountains, hanging out by rivers or lakes, walking, stretching, listening to music, making art, or just watching my dogs chase each other around. These things help me stay grounded and remind me that the present moment is the clearest way to experience life.

This book contains the majority of content from the books Hola Amiga books 5,6,7. (approx. 108 pages)

Hola Amiga is an ongoing project that metamorphoses from zines to art shows to products. It’s a playground for unfiltered thoughts, illustrations, patterns, and imagery that doesn’t have to explain the “why did you do this?” It’s just me, exploring my subconscious, free from the constraints of ROI and focus groups.

With an intention to celebrate imperfection and unexpected discoveries in an era dominated by data, the endless race towards increasing productivity, and algorithm-curated attention, its primary objective is to let the mind wander, question, explore, play, and discover.

It’s about embracing spontaneity, exploring the subconscious, and the beauty of the unexpected—unfiltered, imperfect, and always curious.

Thank you for your interest in my work. I am grateful.

I'm inspired by the charm of retro design and the tactile nature of analog printing, especially screen printing and risograph techniques. I love the character of imperfect textures, bold typography, and halftone patterns layered together in a way that feels craft-inspired and human. The minimal color palettes of vintage style and mid-century modern poster art fuel my creativity.
