280 Eighth Avenue’s Façade Takes Shape in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is quickly progressing on 280 Eighth Avenue, a 13-story mixed-use residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Red Apple Group under the RA 280 Development LLC, the 172-foot-tall structure will span 95,561 square feet and yield 104 rental units with an average scope of 650 square feet, of which 28 as designated as affordable housing, as well as 6,083 square feet of retail space, 511 square feet of community facility space, a cellar level, and a 24-foot-long rear yard. The ground-up property is situated at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 24th Street and was once the site of a one-story commercial structure for Rite-Aid.

New Renderings Revealed for Crossroads Centre at 570 Main Street in New Rochelle, New York

New renderings have been revealed for Crossroads Centre, a proposed 28-story residential tower at 570 Main Street in New Rochelle, New York. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Allstate Ventures, the structure is planned to yield 547 rental units. The building is also slated to include ground-floor retail space with two storefronts measuring 7,825 and 4,225 square feet, and underground parking for 476 vehicles. The property is bound by Main Street to the northwest, Leroy Place to the southeast, and Centre Avenue to the southwest.

181 MacDougal Street Nears Completion in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on 181 MacDougal Street, a seven-story mixed-use building in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Straus Group, the structure will yield 16 condominium units in one- to three-bedroom layouts, as well as a community facility and ground-floor retail space with 104 feet of frontage. The project also includes repairs to the adjacent structure to the south at 177 MacDougal Street. The property is situated on a 4,775-square-foot parcel at the corner of West 8th and MacDougal Streets.

New Residential and Commercial Projects Underway In Long Island City, Queens

Long Island City, Queens is continuing its transformation with a host of new buildings cropping up on some of the last available parcels, and older structures giving way to new, larger construction. YIMBY photographed several examples around the booming residential district of the downtown area, most of which are near the elevated Queensboro Plaza station serving the 7, N, and W trains, and the Queens Plaza station for the E, M, and R trains. Other sites are located in the neighborhood across the Sunnyside Yard facility.

Excavation Underway At 200 West 88th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Earthwork has begun at 200 West 88th Street, the site of an 18-story residential tower on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Nortco Development, the 215-foot-tall structure will span 114,000 square feet and yield 37 condominium units. The building will also contain ground-floor retail space and enclosed parking spaces on the second level. The property is alternately addressed as 568-574 Amsterdam Avenue and located at the corner of West 88th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
