Business Card
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Course: COMM 130
Date: Febuary 27, 2016
Program(s) Used: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign
Description: Business card and matching letterhead. All designed by
me, including the logo.
Objectives: Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Do not imitate
existing logos or use previous designs. Dont use photos or live trace.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and
letterhead. Photos are okay on business card and letterhead as additional design elements. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional, but trim only .125. Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed
above center on a vertical page. Apply typography rules, keeping small
copy. Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows
and plenty of white space. Include contact information: name, address,
phone, website, and email on each piece. Use periods, bullets, or spaces
in phone number; no parentheses/ hyphens.
Processes: First I searched the web for some ideas and sketched up
some designs. Then I created a logo in Illustrator. I then placed the logo
in a two different documents in indesign. Where I created my business
card and letter head. I then critiqued my work and created a new design
with more color. I spent time editing and editing to make sure it had the
right look and logo.

Brochure
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Course: COMM 130
Date: March 26, 2016
Program(s) Used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
Description: A two sided (duplex) 3 folding brochure.
Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One should be
clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the
cutout shape of the image.
Processes: First I sketched out my ideas on a sheet of paper, then I made
a module out of lined paper. Then I opened Adobe Illustrator and began
designing the logo. I decided sense my logo was going to be the main
shape of the brochure, to open it up in indesign and begin operating and
arrogating parts. I made a simple draft of of the layout with text boxes and
frames for pictures. I then typed up what I was going to say and found the
pictures that I would use from his Facebook. Then began the long process
of the final project. I used Adobe Photoshop to do a very light edit to the
pictures and back in Adobe Indesign I texted wrapped the top body to one
of his pictures. I also created margin spacing. Then once finished I critiqued
again, changed the color scheme and fonts for body title and body. I also
added a few design elements and printed. I had to print at least 10 times to
get the layout to match up evenly on both sides. I think this was the hardest part out of it all. But over all I really enjoyed this project and the fun
time I had creating my design and watching it come to life.
Logos
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Course: COMM 130
Date: Febuary 20, 2016
Program(s) Used: Adobe Illustrator
Description: Logo for organization
Objectives: Create three completely different, original logos to fit
a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience.
Processes: I really loved designing these logos. I first sketched
out some ideas and then created them in Illustrator. From there
I had 10 people vote on which was most appealing. From there I
took the one with the most votes and placed it in different edits.
Regular, greyscale, and flipped to the solid blue background. I
loved the time I spent on this project, and look forward to being
able design more logos in the future.
Flier
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Course: COMM 130
Date: January 23, 2016
Program(s) Used: Adobe InDesign
Description: Black and White flier to promote a graduate leadership conference hosted by Vouant Communication.
Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image
and logo from links on this page.Create a project folder with image, logo and
InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.
Process: I made four sketches at first, then I narrowed it down to one. This
helped me with my layout and kept me focused on my message. I used Adobe InDesign to create my flier. I created repetition in the dashes of the rectangles and then placed those lines throughout my piece. I used contrast in my
color choice and size of the logo. This way you are drawn to it. I used contrast
also in my use of white space and small body text. I positioned the elements
so they faced into the design, creating a visual flow/path for the viewer to follow. I aligned elements, one with another. I did the diagonal alignment with
the heading to draw the viewers eyes into the piece. I used the young woman who is reaching for the book, to represent her reaching for her dreams.
Just like the graduating seniors have done in working hard to do well in their
studies to be able to graduate and enter the work force. The flier as a whole
has a nice shape and even layout.

Web Page
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Course: COMM 130
Date: March 12, 2016
Program(s) Used: Adobe Illistrator, TextWrangler and Photoshop.
Description: A website to display my logo for my company.
Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page so
the long side is 300 500 pixels. Write content to describe the process of
creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience. (Minimum of
200 words. Include rationale for colors, appeal to target audience, design
skills, etc,). Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Include all required
tags Doctype (provided), html, head, title, meta charset (provided),
body, h1, h2, p, ol or ul (with li tags), img, br, and a link to blog). Acquire
a working knowledge of CSS. (Customize the provided CSS provided to
format the HTML to complement the logo design. Change at least the following: The h1 text color & h1 background color, font colors for the paragraphs & list items, the background color, font families and add at least
one css comment.)
Process: I started in TextWrangler and began coding. I had never even
heard of HTML and CSS before now. I started by just playing around in
the program and using tutorials to help me along. I also used Photoshop
to get the exact color hers that I needed for the color scheme. I had a lot
of fun figuring out the different layouts and how it all goes together. It is
so interesting on how the indenting helps with the organization of it all.
I changed the fonts, colors, added my logo, hyperlink, and layout. Once I
was done with the project I verified it to make sure I did everything correct and I did.
Montage
Instructor: Nicole Nugent
Course: COMM 130
Date: Febuary 13, 2016
Program(s) Used: Adobe Photoshop

flow, Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message. Learn to blend two or more images together gradually,
using masks. Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements. Use a mask to apply a filter to one part
of the image. Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or
scripturesyour choice)
Process: First I came up with my thought. I wanted to have a side by
side of missionaries and Christ with his disciples. I then found my
pictures and opened them up in photoshop. I selected around the
missionaries and dragged it over to the spot I wanted it to be on the
picture of Christ. I then started blending. I selected a scripture to tie
the message together.
