Brochure:
Description: A two-sided, trifold (duplex) brochure.
Programs: Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign
Date: 07/09/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Set up a layout of a two-sided folding

document and incorporate high quality images.

Process:

This brochure was a lot of fun to make! I decided on this design to

create an amusement park that would give that family fun
feeling. I started this process by designing out a logo in Adobe
Illustarator. Based on other logo ideas that I looked at, I decided
to make a golden ticket in the background of the title text. Then,
I found a western decorative font to give it an old-fashioned look!
Adding a good variety of quality images for the inside of the
brochure gives off a good message. I enjoyed every minute
creating this brochure!

Business card:
Description:

A matching letterhead and business card design by using a personally created logo.

Programs: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign

Date: 06/11/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Creating a new logo, design a consistent layout by using basic tools

like: Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

I used the shapes tool create the layout for the front and back of this
card. Then, I copied and pasted the Busy Bee Inc. logo I created
from Illustrator in the middle of the front of the card. The contact
information is around the same size, so that it would look similar to
the one from the letterhead. The dashed line coming from behind
the bee gives great eye movement and character to the card, itself.

Programs: Adobe Illustrator

Date: 06/11/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Creating a new logo, design a consistent layout by using basic tools

like: Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:

This was my first time creating a letterhead stationery

layout. the page shows a good amount of white space and
contrast. At the bottom of my letterhead, I included the watermark.
I found out that putting lines together horizontally with yellow and
grey alternating just didnt work for what I wanted. Instead, I thought
it would compliment the hexagon from my logo if I were to put a
whole design of them together.

Logos:
Description: A three logo variation for same company
Programs: Adobe Illustrator
Date: 06/04/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Profesor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Create a variety of logos to fit a compnays image by using basic

tools from Illustrator.

Process:

I really enjoyed creating this logo in the Illustrator program. I used

After about 6 or 7 rough drafts on my logo, I was able to decide on
the sketch that looked best for the message I wanted. The
typography was a little easier to decide on for my message, so I
found that the Berkley (Script) fit well for the Title font! I figured that
the Baskerville Oldstyle Face worked best in this logo. The variations
really stand out with the gold and indigo colors for an ice cream
shop. Especially, with the ice cream cone going behind the text!

Photo design:

the weather.

Programs: Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator

Date: 05/21/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Choose a color scheme, use a digital camera to take a photo, use

layers to design from Photoshop.

Process:

This project was one of my favorites to work on, especially because I

got to use my digital camera. I decided to take a couple items that I
already had that created a good color scheme and contrast. I
placed my photo into Photoshop to brighten up the colorsWith the
flowers, glasses, and lotion put together into one photo, I wanted
to create a summer fun look! The circular overlay that encloses the
photo brings a great focus.

Spiritual montage along with a quote from Bonnie L. Oscarson.

Programs: Adobee Photoshop/Illustrator

Date: 05/28/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Learn to manage Photoshop layers, learn to blend two images together, apply appropriate typography

Process:

I started off by creating a document that was 8.5x11in landscape.

Then, I selected an image to put Christs photo on with a mask over
it in Photoshop. I took Christs image and used the quick selection
tool where he was placed. I put a bit of feathering on the edges to
give it a better feel to the ocean photo. Lastly, I put in my body text
along with a line underneath to give extra contrast.

Event Ad:

cancer awareness

Programs: Microsoft Word, Library Scanner

Date: 05/14/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Find, scan and import image to use in Word, create a full-bleed

design, use text boxes for the layout, insert and edit the images
in Word.

Process:

I scanned the flower image in the Library and sent it as a document

to my email. Then, I went to place the image in a Word document. I
took some text boxes and changed their color to match/create the
color scheme I wanted. I chose a title font that would give the
message I want for the breast cancer awareness. I was really
surprised how easy it was to create such a design in Microsoft Word!
Now I know that I can use it when needed.

Process:

The first step in my process was creating some sketches that I might
want to use for my final draft for my flier. Then, I finalized one of the
sketches in the Adobe InDesign program. I placed the image in the
design, along with some body text to help it fit better. I put an
emphasis on the title font to help it stand out at the top of the page.
I made sure that I had enough white space for the page and the
image, text, and decorations were all aligned with each other.

Web design:
Description:

A web page personally designed to showcase a

companys logo

Programs: Notepad++
Date: 06/25/16
Course/Section: Comm 130, Section #2
Instructor: Professor Ben Pingel
Objectives:

Size and optimize a new logo, design a webpage using HTML and
CSS, identify hex colors, compress files in a zipped folder

Process:

Creating this webpage project was a whole different experience for

me! One of the first things I did was paste the logo into the
Notepad++, The next thing I did was put in the color scheme for my
company page. It was a little hard to come up with the right colors
for the right backgrounds, but I found two backgrounds that work
together really well. The red, yellow, and blue colors are the color
scheme I used for this company. They work well together for an ice
cream company like this one and for the message I want to portray.
Lastly, I put in the finishing touches of my described process of how I
designed my logo and the message I want to give to my audience.
