Ang Unang Paglipad

The first poem is about a mother bird encouraging her young bird to fly for the first time despite being afraid. The mother reassures the young bird that it is strong enough and not to be afraid of falling. The young bird then spreads its wings and flies around the nest before soaring up into the clouds. The second poem is about growing up from age 1 to 6 from the perspective of a child. At each age, the child describes feeling new and still developing. But at age 6, the child feels clever and wants to stay at age 6 forever.

Now We Are Six

When I was one,

I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.

When I was four,

I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six
now and forever.
