To Whom It May Concern:
Lily Harding has been a student teacher in my first grade classroom at Dunlap Grade
School, for the past nine weeks. She has been a part of our classroom team made up of
20 students including three students with IEPs, one ESL student, one Tier 3 student,
and two Tier 2 students. Lily has been responsible for teaching all subjects.
Ms. Harding will have had the experience of teaching according to the Dunlap First
Grade Curriculum which correlates to the Illinois Learning Standards. During this time
she has planned and implemented the daily classwork, quizzes and unit tests. Lily has
successfully demonstrated her awareness of different learning styles and has
adequately adjusted assignments to meet the varied needs of students. Her units were
thoroughly prepared and implemented. She was successful in monitoring and adjusting
to various schedule changes in order to complete the required learning opportunities
during her time of teaching.
Lily’s experiences in math and language arts have included teaching very challenging
units on place value and multi-syllabic words. This involved teaching the basic elements
and how they work within the larger concepts of math and reading. She completed
these units developing her own activities including engaging daily activities,
independent quick checks, and successfully culminating with the common formative
assessment given to all first graders.
Lily possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. She has developed a great
rapport with each of the students. The most needy of students comfortably relate to her
even during moments of stress. Lily is well-dressed, articulate, and always ready with a
smile and a kind word. I have found that other team members have accepted her as a
strong working member of our team and she has had a positive working relationship
with each one of them, as well as with other staff members.
I am confident that Ms. Harding will be an asset to any staff that she works with. She is
confident, knowledgeable, and has the skills of a seasoned teacher. I believe that she
will continue to grow and become even more effective as a teacher with further
opportunities. Please feel free to contact me for more information at (309) 854-3672 or
