Digital transformation is important for medium-sized Colombian enterprises to remain competitive. Statistics show that while Colombian companies are becoming more aware of technology's importance, over half of small and medium enterprises still lack trained personnel for digital tasks. Adopting digital strategies is happening faster in services (71.4%) than industry (48.4%), but most Colombian businesses now see promoting emerging technologies as important for their future success. To justify addressing how to promote digital transformation, students found statistics showing it is important academically, economically, and socially.

enterprises?

Digital transformation The term has been understood in different ways and there
are different definitions, but the Center for Research and Development in
Information and Communication Technologies (CINTEL) states it as "the optimal
use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). on the part of
organizations, in their different processes, in its products and services, and in the
business model, for the achievement of its corporate purpose ". The entity explains
that, in this regard, Colombian companies continue to advance, highlighting that
the Global Digital Transformation Maturity Index grew from 9.1 percent in the last
two years, from 57.64 percent in 2016 to 62.88 percent in 2018.

These figures highlight that the country's companies are aware that technology
becomes the most important driver of their

investigated small and medium-sized companies from different regions of the
country that are part of the project of Employability and Digital Entrepreneurship,
which are part of Citi Foundation, Fundación Telefónica, the Agency of the United
States for International Development (USAID) and the International Organization
