To Whom It May Concern,
I am interested in applying for your Adult ESL Teacher position that you have listed on
Indeed.com. I’ve been following the Texas Academy of English since I went back to school and I
love the work that you are doing in your community to help those that need the extra hand in
English. I have previous experience working with immigrants from various countries on their
English language journey and I think my love to help others and work with them to achieve the
most that they can. I also have a passion for other cultures and working to make everyone feel
included and important.
While I am currently working on a degree in education, I have had experience in and around the
classroom. During my first years in college at Everett Community College in Washington state, I
assisted our ESL instructor in her classroom where I worked with adults from age twenty-five to
eighty years old. My job there was to go over their spelling and basic words, as well as help
them learn their way around the computer. I also assisted in grading papers and getting lessons
ready. Prior to that, I assisted at a Kumon school in Japan for a few weeks where I taught
English to children (believe it or not, I did that for fun). In high school I also did Japanese
tutoring on top of being a TA which helped me become accustomed to lesson planning and
grading.
I’ve also seen that you are looking for someone with high energy. Throughout my assisting
assignments, I have had to create games and lesson plans that kept the interest of multitudes
of people. On top of that, I’ve also worked with children and my current job as a shift manager
at Starbucks also includes keeping and creating a high energy atmosphere.
I believe with my past experience and passion for working with and helping people who are
new to this country be able to manage and succeed in their new life, I will be an asset to your
teaching team! I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Lora Abegglen.
