Over the years advertisers have come to realise the power of advertisements and

their ability to attract more masses in huge numbers .There are increasingly more ads that
seduce us by their originality more than the product itself. There are a variety of ways in
which a manager chooses to advertises a product but excessive persuasion that subtly
crosses boundaries of manipulation.
showing “expert” opinions, tickling the emotional side of people, and giving them a
“feel-good” situation. Unfortunately, most people do not understand this and react rather
emotionally to an ad that features their favourite movie star or sportsperson. As buyers,
we need to play the devil’s advocate, and question what we see in advertisements and not
believe it blindly.
While some claims are honest statements about products, others are outright lies.
However, most claims fall into the middle ground, “neither bold lies nor helpful
consumer information.” These claims are the ones that rely most heavily on the
manipulation of language to attract consumers to their products.
