PRE-DEPARTURE CHECKLIST

FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

THINGS TO DO BEFORE LEAVING HOME


Arrange student visa
Arrange for immunisations and medications from my doctor
Apply for a credit card and/or arrange sufficient funds
Confirm overseas access to your funds with your bank
Book flights and arrange travel insurance
Arrange accommodation
Arrange transport from airport to accommodation
Organise some Australian currency for your first few days
Pack bags being sure to include the following important documents:
Passport
Letter of Offer from CQU
A copy of your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
Proof of OSHC (if you arranged it yourself)
Certified copies of your qualifications & certificates
Other formal identification (country ID card, driver’s license, birth
certificate)
Written medical advice for any existing medical conditions

THINGS TO DO UPON ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA


Call home to let your family and friends know that you arrived safely
Settle into accommodation, or start searching for permanent accommodation
Purchase household items and food
Enrol children in school (if applicable)
Organise OSHC Card
(Download the Allianz ‘My OSHC Assistant’ app or contact other OSHC provider)
Open an Australian bank account
Apply for tax file number (TFN) if seeking part-time work
Attend International Student Enrolment and Orientation at CQUniversity
THINGS TO DO WHEN I ARRIVE AT CQUNIVERSITY
Enrol in your units
Visit Student Services at your respective campus to finalise your enrolment
and arrange your timetable. You must enrol on campus to officially commence
your studies at CQUniversity.

Organise your Student ID Card


Students can apply for their ID card once they have enrolled. Most students
will receive their student ID card as part of the enrolment process.

Attend Orientation
On-campus Orientation is compulsory for all international students.
Find our more about orientation: www.cqu.edu.au/orientation

Connect to the CQU Wireless Network (eduroam)


In the Username field, use your Student ID Number followed by @cqu.edu.au.
example: 12345678@cqu.edu.au
In the password field, enter your CQUniversity password.

Check out your Student Portal


Click on ‘Current Students’ from the CQU homepage

Log-in to Moodle and complete the Academic Integrity Module


Moodle provides resources for each unit which you are enrolled in.
To access Moodle, log in to the Student Portal and click the Moodle link.

**You must complete the Academic Integrity Module before you can access
the Moodle site for each of your units.**

Purchase your textbooks


New textbooks - visit http://bookshop.cqu.edu.au and use your unit code to
locate prescribed and recommended textbooks.
Secondhand textbooks – login to UCROO and search the Marketplace

Access your student email


This is the University’s official method of communicating with you and must be
checked regularly during the term.
Click on the envelope symbol within your Student Portal

Get involved in student life and activities


Know your rights and responsibilities as an international student on
a Student Visa.
