Eragon is the first book at Christopher Paolini's inheritance cycle with the books eldest, Brisingr,
and inheritance.Eragon book was the third-best-selling children's hardback book of 2003 at New
York Times Children's Books Best Seller list.Christopher paolini started reading fantasy genre
books when he was 10 years old.At the age 14 as a hobby and fantasy book lover, he begins to
write his first novel with the series of four books, Inheritance cycle with the first book eragon the
book eragon is published in their family’s publishing company Paolini International on August
26, 2003.Eragon a fantasy book is four everyone for kids even for adults because of its content
adventure, epic battles, and romance.Christopher paolini biggest influences and inspiration is the
epic poem Beowulf one of the important works of Old English literature, Paolini mixed his
works with old myths,folk tales and medieval stories like dragons, and other fictional characters
who were intended to entertain the kid’s and adult’s minds.Paolini wrote the series of books
inheritance cycle that is all about dragons eragon,brisingr,eldest, and inheritance as a teen
because he wants to feed his curiousness about these mythological creatures.

I loved the book content even it has 59 chapters that take me too long to read,but while reading
the book from the start until the end it feeds my entertainment and excitement
simultaneously,also I like the idea of life of eragon from a farm boy to a hero or a dragon
rider,and especially in this old book my mind can relate the situation of the kingdom of alagaesia
in the situation of government in my country the imperialism and the people that will do
everything for revenge and power. Eragon is a fictional book that cites dragons and other
mythological creatures and especially the dragon riders,the book tells the history of dragon riders
and the adventure and destiny of eragon, eragon is farm boy that is destined to fight the evil king
and the shade “durza” the book conveys the message even if you are poor or a peasant you can
shine to the top of the world if you have the courage and trust with the people around you.Paolini
has other works in the inheritance cycle eldest, brisingr, and inheritance and eragon is the first
series and all of these books has fantasy and mythological twist especially the book’s content is
all about the dragons that i loved to read if I given a chance in the future,the reason I want to read
these books because eragon the first give me a warm up and tells a different story about dragons
and it interaction with the humans.So here is the summary of the eragon book.

The story begins in a forest at night , the shade was sneaking and guarding the forest with the
urgals, and a while elves arrives riding in their own horses, the elves are clothed in armor and a
moment the shade attack the elves the two was shot and a female escapes temporarily while in a
escape the female elf remove the stone from her pocket to secure its safety from the shade and
urgals and a while she was caught by the shade before riding away from them.Eragon a fifteen
year-old boy with brown hair and eyes hunting for their food in the forbidden place called the
spine,during his hunting, eragon accidentally found an unknown thing a stone a smooth and hard
blue stone, he was confused in thinking what to do in that thind so he decided to pay it for their
food.Eragon traveled to sell the egg or trade it in the next day, and hurry to the butcher named
sloan,eragon ask for meat but didn't have the enough money to pay,eragon request if the stone
can be his payment for the meat he was asking, the two is unfamiliar with the stone but sloan was
captivated by the beauty of the stone so he accept the for eragon's payment but a one thing
change the mind of sloan and rejects eragon's offer because eragon said that he found the stone in
the spine,And that thing make sloan angry and tell eragon to leave in his shop.Horst enter the
shop of sloan a blacksmith and calm sloan for a while and grant the request of eragon for meat
and horst offers a job for eragon in his shop and eragon was happy to hear that the job is for
paying horst bought meat.Eragon show his uncle the stone back in his uncle's farm garrow with
his cousin roran.Eragon was excited to see the traders to sell his stone for money. in the town
eragon hears the events happening in their country alegaesia,fights and the king imperialism and
about the varden the rebels.Brom a old man and called the story teller of the town,eragon listen
to the story of brom about the dragon riders about galbatorix the king,traitor,and the killer of the
past king vrael.galbatorix kills his fellow dragon riders for power and revenge and for the
throne.Eragon becomes more curios about dragons and dragon riders after listening to brom's
story.Eragon return from the village At night eragon feel the stone is moving or squeking a little
that makes eragon scared and hide the stone under his bed, And a while the stone cracks and
eragon was shock to find out that the stone is a dragon egg, a small dragon came out from the
egg covered in blue scales, the dragon watches eragon for a moment,the dragon looks kind for
eragon so he touches it and feel a thunderstruck in his body and make a scar in his hand a spiral
scar.Eragon take care of the dragon himself feed him make a shelter for him,And as time goes by
the dragon grow more quickly and looks like matured dragon, and eragon is confused how to
keep the dragon as a secret however big it is.Eragon's curiosness makes him to ask informations
about dragons to brom,Brom tells even more the story of the dragon and tell the story of an elf
eragon,and tell how strong and big dragon is and eragon ask names for his new dragon and given
the name saphira.Eragon and roran leave their farm for job,In the next morning the blacksmith
tells eragon about the blue stone because there are two stranger finding that thing. Eragon
passing sloan's shop overheared the two stranger is finding eragon for the blue stone and saw
eragon and attack him.Fortunately brom save eragon scaring off the strangers.Eragon give thanks
brom and shake hands with taking off his gloves and accidentally reveal the spiral shape scar in
his palm.Eragons run home quickly to ensure his uncle's safety but saphira smell danger for
eragon and stop eragon to go in their farm, and a while eragon escapes and run to his uncle but
its too late he found his uncle dead and their wrecked farm.Eragon blame saphira for his uncles
death because if saphira didn't stop eragon he can save his uncle and fight the killers at that
time.Eragon collapses and has been unconscious for more than two days.Brom tell eragon that
his uncle's killer is the ra'zazc and inhuman enemy.and travel to revenge his uncle's death.In their
travel brom teacher eragon how to fight with sword and magic with elven language.Riding in
horses brom tells more about dragon rider's fighting strategies because eragon is destined to fight
the shade.Brom teach eragon how to see the vision of saphira in an elven language so he try it
and it works.Eragon and brom reached the city of teirm to see an old friend of brom while they
are exploring the city eragon stops in a fortune teller's house named angela,angela reveal the
fortune of eragon and read the story of a person and reveal the name of eragons mother
"selena".Angela said she sense danger and the life of eragon is filled with many battles.That
night,Eragon dream of a young woman in a cell,crying and in pain.He wakes himselft in tears
and upset by the dream.In their way eragon become curios why brom help him in his journey and
finally find out that brom is an agent of the varden the rebel group fighting against the empire
And lately eragon found out that his egg is came from the king stolen by the varden, brom tells
his history as a dragon rider fighting morzan the traitor.Eragon remember the woman in the cell
in his dreams and tell brom how much he want to find and save her.The time for eragon was
gone so fast eragon become more talented in fighting and magic and consider he is ready to fight
the shade.During their travel to dras-leona to revenge his uncle's death they witness the poverty
in other city of alegaesia.In the town eragon accidentally confront the ra'zac to the enemy's
numbers eragon decided to hide than to fight them and a while eragon was caught by the enemies
and become unconscious taking a magic from the enemy.Upon waking,Eragon is tied up and
founds out that brom is with him,He can't do anything at that time he can't use magic but a while
there are arrows shooting the ra'zacs that scares them away before leaving one of them kicks
eragon and shoot a dagger to him but brom save the life of eragon and catch the dagger and brom
was shot.After waking,Eragon learns that the man who saved him is murtagh,Apparently brom
wound is worse so eragon and saphira try to heal him and they failed because brom's wound is
too deep and suffer many times.Brom said his secret to eragon brom reveals that he was a dragon
rider before and has a dragon name was also saphira that was killed by galbatorix and brom
reveals that he knows he will die soon and die a few hours later after he reveals his secrets that
he is the legendary killer of morzan.Eragon decides he needs a comrade to fight and travel with
him that is murtagh.Eragon's team dig for the grave of brom and saphira cover it in diamond to
last for many years.They travel to the varden and stop in Gil'ead they continue practicing and
rest.Eragon was shock because they are attack by the urgals in the morning eragon manage to kill
many of them before they manage to caught eragon unconscious.Eragon wakes up covered in
blood and in a cell he can't use magic inside the cell.He saw the woman he see in his dream is
with him and a while he saw a monstrous looking human and he is the shade that eragon was
destined to fight,the shade want to control eragon using his name but eragon tricked him so the
shade decide to send eragon in another cell.When eragon's power return he manage to unlock the
door and leave.Eragon think he need to rescue the elf but that time the shade arrives and fight
him,the shade is much stronger than eragon.Murtagh shoot arrows to the shade and distracted in
fighting eragon Saphira arrives and flies the three to safety because eragon manage to save the
elf the elf was wounded and poisoned by the shade.Eragon try to heal the elf and slightly heal the
elf.They continue travelling to the varden seeing urgals approaching to the varden and
experience so many battles.They reach the varden finally eragon introduce himself as the dragon
rider and ask to help arya the elf that is wounded,The varden refuse to accept murtagh help
because he reveal that he is the son of morzan the traitor but murtagh refuse to that reason
because he said he doesn't reflect his father’s doings but the varden didn't trust murtagh and
suddenly eragon denied murtagh too.During that time they didn't noticed the urgals is nearby and
going to attack the hideout of varden,Saphira begins to protect but urgals was so many to
manage.They manage to escape and move to safe place.suddenly a purple robed man hostage
murtagh and say they must follow him.The men uses murtagh to know the secrets of eragon's
team while in the tunnel until they resist the man attacked by saphira.Eragon travel to the tunnel
and go to a safer place to meet the leader of the varden, in the discussion of eragon with the
leader they build plans and eragon reveal his journey to the varden.The varden like to test
eragon's skills to prove that he can fight for them and as a culture of the varden eragon needs to
bless the new born children in their empire.In the next day eragon and arya the elf woman helps
eragon in his test with the twins and after the battle discusses and give thanks to eragon for
saving her life.In the next day of their stay in the varden they see the urgals marching to the
varden nearby and get ready for defense plans.The varden give eragon and saphira an armor for
the battle and like a blessing that telling eragon is ready to fight the shade and the urgals and wait
through the night for the battle to begin.At that night urgals attack the empire and varden's army
manage to lessen their number but not all of them, as the battle continues the shade durza
approaches and attack eragon and the varden.Durza summon a black dragon from his black
magic but it doesn't make eragon to be scared of him and fight him,In that fight eragon's attack
was so weak for the shade but a while he remember that the way to kill the shade is to pierce the
shade's heart, eragon is waiting for the right time to cast his spell and attack the shade but the
fight become one-sided because saphira is hurt worse than the shade,In their communication and
trust with each other eragon manage to kill or pierce through the heart the shade and become
unconscious at that time the varden manage to win with the urgals and eragon makes the shade
killed by his and saphira’s power.At the end of the story and journey of eragon ,eragon wakes up
he remember a dream that a man tell him he should go with arya into the ellesmera the land of
elves to train and make himself more stronger and to be prepared for future battles and especially
with the kings revenge for his lost.
Paolini as a child/teen writing a wonderful novel is the one of the strengths that make me believe
and entertained with this book content that full of imagination from a teen’s mind, I can’t believe
that he can write equipped in a masterful language and creative writing, In his book’s story line it
was so fictitious and blend with mischievous thoughts that can feed the mind of his reader that
doesn’t give exaggeration of every ideas written inside the book. I can’t cite the weaknesses in
this book because I am so satifisfied for its flow from the beginning until the end and make me
feel motivated and so knowledgeable even with its fictional scenes and characters.I based my
critique or review from my own thoughts after I read this fantasy novel and even this book make
me prepared writing my own book in the future and also writing these book review even in this
book it was written inside the idea of judgement its effects,process and consequences (in the
scene when murtagh was judge quickly by the varden and by eragon).

In the first place I chose this book considering that I recently watched the movie eragon 1 year
ago, So I am confident that I am oriented with the scenes and events written in these book but i
was wrong from the book and movie the book was far more different from the movie so I’ve lost
interest a little in reading this book but I was wrong again that this book is not exciting because
from the start it makes me eager and curios to know what gonna happen next so I rushed to read
more than before, I was so satisfied in the titles of every chapter because it cause me to become
excited than before, while reading in every chapter it gives me informations and thoughts of the
author about dragons, ancient language, magic and so on, and also while reading I am so happy
that I can relate the events in my experiences and thoughts with the events happening in real life,
in this book content was filled with imaginations of the author that push me to recommend it to
my friends or read or tell it to my younger cousins but I rate this book was for everyone adults
and kids to clear their minds and knowledgeable about these mythological creatures and
especially the one of the reason I want this book because it widen my imagination that can relax
or relieve my stress in my daily life and hopefully they can feel and realize it too.Even if with
don’t have or need to numerical rate this book but I want to do it to clearly cite my rating for
these wonderful book, I rate in a scale of 1-10 as 10,This book eragon may not have satisfy me
most but I want to rate it to the highest considering the book’s informations and relations coming
from a teen’s mind gave me inspirations, motivations and feeding my own imaginations about
dragons,I like also the cover because it gaves me an idea saphira’s look and in the first page the
map of alagaesia that captivated me and in the back page it tells the summary or a warm up of
the second book of the series inheritance cylce and I read that too feeding the curiosness what to
happen next with eragon and with the king’s revenge,also at the back too tell the informations
and history in writing the eragon book and why it has been written by christopher paolini,In
reading books I’m more of a childish taste because I consider the cover, front page than the
book’s content and this book doesn’t disappointed me,but at the last I am speechless with it’s
content not relating what I’ve watched and what I’ve reed, In the message of the book I am
finding the implicit message of the book and I didn’t know and I didn’t found what it is, so I
focus in the clearly stated messages in the book,it was so motivational and inspirational for me.In
the plot twists of the story I love all of them,also revealing all the secrets of every character
because I realize the author is not selfish even in the information of his fictional characters, In
overall I love the way this book is written and I am prepared to read the different book of
christopher paolini and especially the different series connected in the eragon book.
