International students with equivalent qualifications
There are many routes to becoming a qualified accountant with ACCA: Mature student at or above 21 years and
you are expected to qualify within ten years. GCSE’s at grade A-C, A levels.
Exemptions: Relevant graduates may be awarded some exemptions for papers in part one and two only.
Who is it for?
Anyone wish to be a Chartered Accountant, Auditor, Banker or Consultant or people already employed in the sector and want to
enhance their career.
Career Progression:
After successful completion of the course student can pursue a career in Business, Finance or Accounts section of the public and
private sector. Student can also progress into university for higher education.

A mixture of lecture, seminars, tutorials and workshop are used. There are group based assessment activities as well as more
traditional reports, essays and examinations. Guest speakers and educational visit will add variety and interest to the course.

NB. Student must register with ACCA for exam in mid August and December each year. 31 st

CERTIFIED ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN (CAT)

ABOUT CAT Qualification
The Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification is structured and examined by ACCA (see ACCA section for
further details about ACCA), and offers you the opportunity to further your career options. In studying for the CAT
qualification, you may wish to start a career in finance, gain recognition for the skills you have already developed
in accountancy or accelerate your progression to the ACCA professional scheme. CAT is the stepping stone for all of
these aims. It also seeks to help you develop the skills needed for successful study in higher education.
Entry requirements
Though there are no formal academic qualifications are necessary to enrol for a CAT course at Katherine College.
But students are expected to have any of the following qualifications:
# At least Two GCE A Levels
# AVCE 12 Unit programme, or
# International student with equivalent qualifiations
Exemptions Holders of certain qualifications may receive exemptions from some papers. You may also be able to
claim exemptions from the introductory level exams if you satisfy the one year's practical work experience
requirement.

By 31 January - for June exams
By 31 July - for December exams
Course Duration:
One academic year is required for two parts for full-time students.
CAT exam dates
There are 2 exam sittings each year, June and December
Computer-based exams which are available for papers 1-4 may be sat throughout the year.

Course progression
Successful completion of the first five CAT papers allows you to commence the ACCA professional qualification at
the Knowledge Module level. Completion of all CAT levels means you will be exempted from the three Knowledge
Module papers.
