concerned with the amount rubbish people threw because I am going to make people

it. He asked people he knew to collect all their going to surround the models with
rubbish and recyclables for a week and then lie down their litter that has been
in it whilst he photographed it. He created the setting accumulated over a few days. I am
for the images in his garden, at the beach, in water going to use a deep depth of field
and in snow. Gregg believed that asking people to as well as an in-between depth of
look at their own litter waste helps people to consider field.
the issue more deeply. Gregg Segal said 7 Days of
Garbage is an instant archeology, a record not only of
our waste but of our values – values that may be
evolving a little.

This image is a large, rectangular and portrait. In this image the audience
can see a family of 4: two adults (male and female) and two children (boy
and girl). The family are lying in on grass surrounded by 7 days of their own
waste. The image is filled with litter and the expressions on the models
faces is serious. The colours in the image are vibrant. The details within this
image are also very crisp therefore I think that Gregg Segal used a fast
shutter speed when shooting. This image has a very deep depth of field
which means that the audience can see the full bodies of the models and a
lot of the litter which helps to convey the meaning behind is shoot. This
image lacks composition because there are no leading lines and the rule of
thirds can’t be applied. I think that the image would be more visually
appealing if the rule of third could be applied - I would place one of the
model along one of the lines in the grid. This image makes the audience
accountable for the waste they accumulate by making it personal.

how much they waste because there is quite a
lot of waste. The image should portray the waste
in a negative way.
