Volvo tested its oil filter against competitors to evaluate performance. None of the competitor filters passed all four tests examining elastomer stability in hot and cold temperatures, pulsation resistance, burst pressure tolerance, and contaminant filtering efficiency and capacity. Only the Volvo filter met all requirements. Tests showed some competitors' filters cracked under pressure, burst at lower pressures than required, or did not filter contaminants as effectively as the Volvo filter. Using non-genuine filters risks engine damage from poorer filtration, higher operating costs from reduced filter life, and even engine fires from filter bursting or leaks. The Volvo filter was designed and proven to best protect Volvo machines.

The Volvo filters are designed, tested and proven to be the best for a Volvo machine.

Even if a filter looks similar to the Volvo filter, on the outside, there are differences in design. These differences
can affect filtration, causing the filter to burst, shortening the change intervals or causing the seal to leak in
cold or hot conditions, and sometimes all of these effects and more.

If the filtration is not good enough it will cause wear on the engine and premature engine break down, which
a too large a pressure drop can also cause. Lower contaminant retention capacity will result in shortened
change intervals and either cause increased cost of operation due to more service time, or larger pressure
drop because of the premature clogging. In a worst case scenario, the oil will pass unfiltered through the by-
pass valve. A leaking filter is not only damaging to the environment but can be very risky and result in a
engine fire and this goes of course also for a burst filter.

The way to keep your Volvo machine in the best possible shape and your cost of operation down in the long
run - is to use genuine Volvo filters.
