To whom it may Concern,

Please accept my application for a school counseling position in the Federal Way School District.
I have completed education programs and been endorsed in Early Childhood and K-8 Education
as well as K-12 School Counseling. I am particularly interested in an elementary counseling
position.

As a City University graduate in the Public School Counseling program I have excelled
academically, making the Dean’s List multiple quarters. I feel as though my work ethic and
attention to detail have helped me to reach towards my full potential as a counselor and an
educator. During my work throughout the school counseling program I have increased my
abilities, strategies, and experiences by completing a year-long counseling internship at Twin
Lakes Elementary in the Federal Way School District. As a counseling intern I have gained
experience in many counseling roles including MTSS instruction and support, participating on
leadership and PBIS teams and connecting students and families with resources to thrive.
Throughout these experiences I have had the opportunity to receive feedback and reflect upon
my practices in the school environment which have assisted me to develop my communication,
collaboration and leadership skills.

My five years as a classroom teacher for elementary children have given me an enthusiasm for
teaching. I have had the opportunity to work with children of multiple ages, cultures, and
backgrounds. My two years as a PreK-5th grade Instructional Coach have provided me with
many growth experiences in collaborating with administration and staff and taking on
leadership roles for professional development throughout the school. I am passionate about
working with diverse students and advocating for equity for the school population. My hope is
to work alongside an exceptional team of coworkers with the same passion for empowering
students as I have.

Throughout the years, I have become especially interested in the Federal Way School District
because of its dedication to guiding each and every student to their full potential in learning
and in life. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,

Jessica Tartaglia
