GTC Monitoring Guide

This document provides instructions for monitoring key parameters of a GTC controller during startup and steady state operation. Technicians are instructed to record water inlet and outlet temperatures, ambient temperature, pressures, current draw, and discharge temperature every 3-5 minutes. Guidelines are given for acceptable pressure readings relative to temperature. Additional information is provided on condensing and evaporating temperatures. Technicians are asked to submit the filled monitoring table along with installation photos and refrigerant charge details to Energy Panel.

Monitoring GTC

THIS DOCUMENT EXPLAINS HOW TO HANDLE THE MAIN GTC CONTROLLER

(THE ONE ON THE FRONT COVER OF GTC)

WARNING: IF YOU ENTER IN A WRONG MENU. DO NOT CHANGE ANY PARAMETER.

PRESS PRG CONSECUTIVELY UNTIL YOU REACH THE MAIN SCREEN

This font means “buttons you should press”.

This font means “information shown at the display”.

1. GTC STARTUP AND MONITORING

Proceed monitoring the next parameters and fill the sheet at the end of this document, then send this
information to Energy Panel. Take notes every 3 minutes during the startup (first 15 minutes) and every
5 during the steady state operation. The second hour can be taken each 10 or 15 minutes.

• Time (hh:mm)
• Low pressure side:
o Ambient temperature (thermometer or internet) (ºC)
o Low pressure test (manometer) (bar)
• High pressure side:
o Water inlet temperature (B1 probe from main controller) (ºC) (follow the guide
below)
o Water outlet temperature (B2 probe from main controller) (ºC) (follow the guide
below)
o High pressure test (manometer) (bar)
o Discharge temperature (internal thermostat) (ºC)
• Electric power supply:
o Current (Amps) (in one phase, measured by a clamp amp meter)

For measuring B01 and B02 probes, follow this steps:

1. Ensure the GTC main green switch is at “I” position (on) to let the GTC to start.
2. During operation read the B01 and B02 probes following the next steps:

 Shortly puss the down arrow button (no not keep pressed the button too much time).
Then bXX is shown, where bXX can b01, b02 or b04
 Check B01 value and and B02 value (after 1 second of bXX message, a numeric number
is shown, this is the temperature value measured by this probe)
 Also check ambient temperature (for example on: internet)

3. Repeat the process every time GTC increases the temperature around 5 degrees. Take notes of
every value and fill the following table:

2. USEFUL INOFRMATION

1. Regarding the pressure values:

 HIGH PRESSURE SIDE: Measure by the manometer the condensing temperature: You
should get around 5ºC high pressure more than water temperature. Your limit should be
around 10ºC more than water temperature (the high pressure limit is 27bar, but your high
pressure switch may be switching earlier. 27bar is 65ºC condensing temperature). It
depends on water circuit that flows through the GTC. So condensing temperature values

o Water temp + 3 = excellent condensation

o Water temp + 5 = good condensation

o Water temp + 7 = normal condensation, but less performance.

o Water temp +10 = low condensation performance, can cause high pressure
problems at 55ºC (bad water flow, excess of refrigerant, refrigerant blocked...)

 LOW PRESSURE SIDE: Measure by the manometer the evaporating temperature: You
should get around 10ºC or 15ºC degrees less than ambient temperature. It depends on
weather, panel orientation, inclination, gas charge…So evaporating temperature values:

o Ambient -5 = excellent evaporation

o Ambient - 10 = good evaporation

o Ambient - 15 = normal evaporation

o Ambient - 20 = cold day evaporation

o Ambient - 25 or more = low power evaporation (very low temrperatures, frost,

lack of refrigerant)

2. Finally: Please, provide Energy Panel all the information of installation.
