The document provides guidelines for constructing modular assemblies that can withstand vibration, shock, and earthquakes. It discusses reinforcing assemblies with corner supports and form coverings. Assemblies weighing less than 850kg should be divided into sections of 5 modules and not attached to walls. They must be bolted to the base every second module and have extra bolts through the plinth. Vertical form coverings should be installed on the sides, behind cable areas, and in depth at columns.

The assemblies must be constructed in accordance with the Instruction Manual and these guidelines.

When constructing large assemblies, you must use corner reinforcements and LAXX/VAXX Form coverings in the depth.

The centre of gravity must be placed as low as possible.

You should, where possible, split up the assembly in as small sections as possible.

For the installation of MD, see section 9 of the Instruction Manual, and section 11 of the Projecting Manual.

For the installation of Plug-in, see section 9 of the Instruction Manual, and section 12 of the Projecting Manual.

The assembly must be fastened to the base for every second

module with at least 10 mm bolts.
Extra holes must be drilled in the plinth to do this.

Pay attention to the access to the bolts when placing the as-

Seismic earthquake simulation.

The CUBIC modular system has fulfilled an earthquake simulation

test according to the IEC 60068-2-57 Test Ff: Vibration - Time-
history method. As Required Response Spectra, RRS:a, the spectra
given in Annexes B and D of the document HN20-E-53 2ème edition
Octobre 1994 were used.
The earthquake simulation tests were done with biaxial horizontal
and vertical multi frequency motions. The ZPA-level at the SSE test
was 1 G in the horizontal directions and 0.8 G in the vertical.

The test assembly is 10x11x3M and weighs 880 kg. The assembly is
fitted with a horizontal busbar in the top (worst case).

Other related seismic standards:

Uniform Building Code, UBC
AS 1170.4-1993
IEE Std 693-1997 Seismic Design of Substations

The following is to be used as a checklist for seismic panels from 850 kg to 1150 kg:

1. The switchboard is at least 10 modules long and 3 modules deep. Maximum height 11 modules.
2. At all times the point of gravity must not be higher than the middle of the panel and preferably lower.
3. Use special plinths with pre-punched holes. See picture 1 and 1a.
4. Special Plinth reinforcements fitted in accordance with CUBIC Projecting Manual.
Mounting of the special plinth reinforcement, see picture 2.
5. Special plain cover plates in painted mild steel for at least every 10 modules, at division and end
mounting, see picture 3. For other section divisions use LA xx, see picture 3a and 3b.
6. Corner reinforcements at every corner where possible (top, bottom, middle) picture 4.
7. Doors more than 3 modules wide have to be secured with CUBIC 3050-2800 cover screws. See picture 5.
8. Covers 2 modules wide or more use CUBIC 3050-2800 stainless steel cover screws in the corners.
See picture 6 and picture 7.
9. The switchboard has to be bolted to the floor with minimum ø12 mm minimum strength 8.8 bolts and
CUBIC washer nr. 2018-1200 placed at every hole available, at the entire plinth flat, See picture 8.
10. If S2000HD busbar do not end at stringer, it is to be fastened with SPx and with 0143-0000 bracket as end
mounting.
