Maryam Idrees BSC Economics 5 Semester International Political Economics Date: January 21, 2019

The speaker argues that globalization is not declining, but rather transforming due to digital technology and data sharing across borders. While nationalism and protectionism are on the rise, global trade is facilitated through e-commerce platforms that allow companies to quickly expand into new markets. Examples are provided of companies like Uber, Netflix, and Adidas that have built large global businesses rapidly by leveraging digital tools rather than physical trade routes. The new form of globalization is propelled by data sharing rather than shipping of physical goods.

Ted talk video review
Globalization isn’t declining its transforming
By: Arindam Bhattacharya

In this video the speaker talked about the transformation of globalization that the
nationalism anti trade and protectionism is rising while the concept of pro trade
has fallen. The global trade has decreased, if the have, so why haven’t the global
country decling?
The answer to this question is digital technology global crossing data.
Arindham bhattacharya talked about that the growth of global countries are not
slowing down but they are globalizing faster than ever before. It’s mainly due to
technological changes like it has make the trade easier and time consuming this
trade is transforming our daily life and globalization. Like the old globalization was
more physical like it was all about shipping of goods across the world but the new
globalization is all about the digital technology and global data.
The globalization is not ending its changing what we are witnessing is the
emergence of new global economy, an economy without borders propelled by
digital rocket boosters.
Companies that haven’t learnt to thrive in this increasingly connected world have
built large global business at astonishing speeds. Taking example of uber which
has penetrated more than 80 countries in just six years and also Netflix which
launched its streaming services in 2010 and has extended to more than 190
countries in less than seven years.
He also gave an example of the shoe company Adidas like first they took months
and months to design and manufacture the shoe for their costumers like
according to their choices but now because of the data crossing border
technology and local speed producing it has made the business easier for the
Adidas company to manufacture the shoe like the costumer chose the size and
shape online.
By 2025 due to cross border world will generate 20 trillion dollars by year.
The transformation of globalization is also due to the new geopolitics where
nationalism is growing where there is a war between countries where the
countries are looking for their own economic and political profits. While the old
geo political countries came together negotiated the collaboration of trade was
done where they all agreed all the rules were common and the people were all
stable.
In my views the trade percentage is not increasing it has only become static it has
only changed its dimension. Only definition is to change and understand. When
the countries cooperate the trade increases, but now the trade is mainly done
through socio political interference and technological advancement.
Like the trade has changed from the handmade stuff to machinery work and its
advancing further with the passage of time.
The global data is producing monetary which wasn’t produced by trade in many
years. Due to rise in nationalism from militarism individual can produce bigger
stuff result than in cooperation.
This technology and global cross data has made life easier for the consumer
because it is time saving.
