Improved opioid informed consent compliance by 50% by working with each Tele-
Primary Care clinical team to schedule patients without informed consent to come into
clinic for education of proper opioid medication management.
Co-investigator on Diabetes telehealth management project for Dublin VAMC that was
sponsored by the Office of Rural Health.
Developed and implemented over 10 Standards of Operating Procedures to improved
clinic flow operations for telehealth clinics (20+) to improve clinic cancellation.
Facilitate and orient Georgia State University Undergraduate Health Informatics
students to Atlanta Veteran Affairs Health Care System (20 students since January
2018). Create orientation manual and preceptor manual by assigning individual
educational sections for self-study for students. Monitors and facilitates completion of
orientee paperwork to provide up to date information on orientees progress and
development.
Teaches as Guest Lecturer for Georgia State University Undergraduate Health
Informatics program since July 2018. Presents a Quality Improvement Presentation for
students once a semester.
Initiated monthly webinars on services offered by Regional Telehealth Service hub to
increase awareness to the program. There were 6 webinars on tele-health services via
Skype/ Adobe Connect. Webinar attendance has ranged from 15 participants to up to 30
participants. From the webinars, there has been four new sites requesting assistance
with setting up services from hub.
Works with Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) for developing clinical reminders
reports to improve the facility metric of timely retinal eye disease performed by the
facility. Worked with CAC to getting the clinical reminder logic corrected and developing
report for all PACT teams to help determine the delinquent number of cases.
Participated in internal review activities/audits and utilized the information gathered to
make decisions about how best to make determining influences on the organizational
operations. Identified issues with contract and worked to get issue fix. Issue was not
able to be fixed, so worked on de-obligation of contract that resulted in cost saving of
$252,000.
Assesses processes, policies and procedures related to performance improvement and
makes recommendations and/or implements strategies for improvement. Created
standard of operating procedure to improve the number of delinquent travel memos for
staff within the department.
Articulates comprehensive knowledge of current trends and issues in quality
improvement locally and nationally. Tracks trends at VA and develops strategies to
modify.
Facilitates implementation of innovative models in performance and quality
improvement. Applied to the VHA Innovators Network for Spark Grant for developing
tele-pre-diabetics project. Application was accepted for funding ($5,000) for FY 20.

Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. The aim of the project was to improve inventory
tracking in surgical care and patient care services to 95% threshold. Surgical Service and
Patient Care Services met the 95% threshold for passing inventory accuracy. Developed
and presented training to service chiefs and administrative officers on completing
equipment inventory list.
Facilitated on the process improvement team: Improving Operating Room Utilization.
The team focused on:
o Increase the rate of First Time Starts to 70% to < 85% (Score of 3) by the end of
4th QTR FY 2017
o Improve Cancellation Rate to 9% -13% (Score of 2) by the end of 4 th QTR FY 17
o Improve Block Utilization Rate to > 70% by the end of 4th QTR FY
Conducted Quality Management tracers regarding Joint Commission and Commission on
Care standards to ensure compliance and provide recommendations to leadership. This
resulted in receiving full JC/CARF accreditation.
Completed numerous rotations to increase knowledge of operations and services
provided by Departments of Veterans Affairs.

o Assisted the Non-VA Care staff with the Consult Closure Campaign with
responsibility for managing the GEC and Hemodialysis Consults. In June, there
were 505 consults. By September 1st, there was a decrease in the number of
consults to 30 consults. All consults greater than 90 days have been completed
or closed.
o Utilized comprehensive knowledge of nursing clinical practice and case
management principles to assess appropriate level of care and to ensure
compliance with established Non-VA care authorizations and guidelines resulting
in approvals and/or denials for non-VA care.

appropriate care coordination, and timely utilization of services.
o Applied knowledge of adult and geriatric disease entities and current accepted
