What is Anime?
A style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well
as children.
Anime is Japanese hand-drawn or computer animation. The word is the
abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" in Japanese, where this term references
all animation. Outside Japan, anime is used to refer specifically to animation from
Japan or as a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by
colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastical themes.
1. Friends/Enemies
Friends
Zoro was the first person Luffy recruited to be part of his crew after rescuing the
swordsman from being captured by the government. Ever since then, Zoro has
followed his captain, eventually becoming extremely loyal and trusting of Luffy's
decisions. They both have respect for each other's abilities and know what the
other is capable of.
Nami was the second person recruited to Luffy's ship and became the navigator.
Although she was using Luffy at first for her own means, Luffy considered her a
friend, and when the flighty girl took off to settle her debts, he helped her gain her
freedom and she came aboard his ship again.
The notorious fibber joined Luffy and the crew after they landed on his island and
helped Usopp and his friend Taya. Usopp is the son of Yasopp, the marksman on
Shanks crew Luffy grew up with. Usopp's cowardice and preference for the safest
way often conflicts with Luffy's sense of adventure. They disagree on a lot of
things, the worst instance being when Usopp left Luffy's crew for a while after a
disagreement over the fate of their first ship, the Going Merry when they reached
Water 7.
Sanji, Ace, Dragon, Garp, Shanks, Brooke, Franky, Robin Chopper, Nakama, Sabo
and Jinbei are also friends.

Enemies
  He defeated Foxy by using the crystals that got stuck to his afro, he studied
CP9’s special abilities to create Gear Second and Gear Third, he manipulated the zombies in
Thriller Bark to find out Usopp, Nami and Chopper’s location
 Luffy stood up to Higuma on behalf of Shanks. However, he was easily
defeated and became a hostage. His captors were easily defeated by the Red-
Haired Pirates, but the bandit leader Higuma has fled out to sea with Luffy.

Akainu
Akainu is one of the three Marine Admirals. His Devil fruit power allows him to
turn into magma and use it in his attacks. After the timeskip, he becomes Fleet-
Admiral after barely defeating Aokiji in a 10 day life or death duel against him. He
is a strong believer in Absolute Justice.

Arlong
Arlong is the pirate captain of all the fishman crew, the Arlong Pirates, a former
member of the Sun Pirates, and the older brother of Madame Shirley. Arlong was
the main reason for Nami's hatred of pirates and was the source of her suffering.

Bartholomew Kuma
Bartholomew Kuma is a member of the shichibukai in the popular manga and
anime series, One Piece. He is later revealed to be a commanding officer in the
Revolutionary Army. He is the user of the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi.

Blackbeard
Blackbeard is the captain of the Blackbeard Pirates. He was formerly a member of the Whitebeard
Pirates' second division led by Portgas D. Ace, up until he killed fourth division commander Thatch
for the Yami Yami no Mi, and defected from the crew.

Buggy, Crocodile, Don Krieg, Enel, Fujitora are some enemies.

 He fights several antagonists, such as the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the
World Government, and the Yonko during his travels, while also aiding and
befriending the locals of various islands
 Luffy is unable to swim and when he is submerged in water it can negate his
powers, as well as Sea Prism. In addition to his Devil Fruit powers, Luffy
possesses immense strength and endurance
ピストル
 Luffy's signature move is the Gum-Gum Pistol (ゴムゴムの 銃  Gomu
Gomu no Pisutoru?), a punch technique which he learned during his years of
training. Another technique developed later in the series, is Second Gear (ギ
セカンド
ア 2  Gia Sekando?), a technique that increases his strength and overall
speed for a limited amount of time, but can strain his body afterwards. By
observing the Shave (剃 Soru) technique of CP9, Luffy was able to adapt the
move with his own rubber body, matching the speeds of the elite assassins.
サード
Third Gear (ギア 3  Gia Sādo), another technique, uses air inflated into
his bone structure to attack with massive limbs and strength, but initially
causes him to shrink afterwards
4
Monkey D. "Straw Hat”, Luffy is a fictional character and the
main protagonist of the One Piece manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. Luffy is
introduced in One Piece chapter 1 "Romance Dawn", first published in
Japan's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine on July 19, 1997, as a young boy whose
body gains the properties of rubber after he inadvertently eats a supernatural fruit
called the Gum-Gum Fruit, one of many Devil Fruits that can be found in the
universe.
In One Piece, Luffy sails from the East Blue to the Grand Line in search of the
legendary treasure One Piece to succeed Gol.D. Roger as the King of the
Pirates. He is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and along his journey, he
recruits new crew members with unique abilities and personalities. He fights
several antagonists (hareef), such as the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the World
Government, and the Yonko during his travels, while also aiding and befriending
(Dosti) the locals of various islands. Luffy has a cheerful demeanor but is quickly
serious when fighting. Luffy is able to use the elasticity of his body to concentrate
his strength and power to execute a diverse range of attacks, the most prominent
being his signature Gum-Gum Pistol, in which Luffy slingshots his punches at
opponents from a distance.
History
Luffy was born in Foosha Village in East Blue. When he was seven years old, he
met and befriended a crew of pirates led by a captain named Red Haired Shanks.
Luffy accidentally ate a Devil Fruit known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi and
unwittingly turned himself into a rubber human. Initially, this situation affected
Luffy badly as it means he will never be able to swim again, which is a great
weakness to anyone who wishes to journey the seas.
While out at sea, Higuma threw Luffy in the ocean, only to be attacked by asea
king. Moments later while he was laughing at Luffy, Higuma was eaten. Though
Shanks manages to save Luffy, he paid a high price: his left arm was lost to the sea
king.

Reception
Luffy ranked first in all three Shōnen Jump character popularity polls. Mayumi
Tanaka. Funimation Entertainment's Mike McFarland and Christopher Sabat, both
stated that they felt that Luffy was more likable than the Dragon
Ball character Son Goku.  Another commentary was made; Joe McCulloch
prefered Luffy to Naruto Uzumaki from Naruto because Luffy "works his ass off"
to achieve his goals, having come across his powers by mistake.[40] In the Society
for the Promotion of Japanese Animation Awards from 2008, Luffy was nominated
for the category "Best Male Character". He was also 22nd in IGN's Top 25 Anime
Characters of All Time by writer Chris Mackenzie. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone
Corporation customers voted him as their second favorite black haired male anime
character.[44] The Gum-Gum Gatling technique has ranked appearances in a
Japanese survey that featured the most popular moves in manga and anime: it was
first in the male category.
