Operations IT Engineer
My duties and responsibilities as Operations IT Engineer was to promote safety as job #1.
Write equipment operation and maintenance SOP's and JSA's (Job Safety Analysis). Inspect completed
work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Research, implement and maintain
Machine Shop, Assembly, Paint and Foundry computer systems including but not limited to: Develop and
manage the development of all Machine Shop work instructions and CNC programs. Manage the CNC
Programming Department, perform duties and responsibilities of the Machine Shop, Assembly, and Paint
Department Manager as needed. Maintain and/or create all computers and computer software for users
in operations. Maintain and/or create all computer systems for other areas as instructed. Troubleshoots
and repairs of all machine shop computer systems in operations. Including but not limited to camera
systems, heat treat PLC systems, shake out PLC systems, sand mixers, CNC controller and PLC
systems. Create, edit and optimize PLC ladder logic and macro B programs for all CNC controls in
Machine shop and Pattern shop. Create, edit and optimize SQL and Access databases for the Inventory
Management System in operations. Exceptional computer skills, including AS400, Synchrono, Lotus
Notes (email), Database (SQL, Access, Oracle, DB2) SAP, CAD CAM system's (NX, Mastercam,
mazatrol) Microsoft software, Network Infrastructure Operate all Machine Shop equipment as needed
including but not limited to all CNC machines, manual machines, forklifts and cranes (mobile and
stationary). Performs tactical and strategic problem solving. Assisted in needs assessment and
arrangement for training. Assisted in creation and implementation of department goals. Made
recommendations to other supervisors and management for improvements. Ensured proper machining
and computer supplies were readily available when needed. Ensured compliance to upper management
goals, procedures, policies, and decisions. Develop and maintain Tool Crib system for Machine Shop,
Assembly and Paint Departments. Research, test and/or development all Machine Shop cutting tools and
the vendors to supply. Assess the need for and recommend and assist in install and runoff of all machine
tool equipment. Provide proper training for all such equipment to all employees as needed.
• I became the first CNC programmer at GIW in 2004 after being a CNC machinists for 10 years. I
developed the programming department which now consist of 3 g-code specialists and 1 mazatrol
specialist and the current Programming Department Supervisor which were all initially trained by
me and then sent to various training schools in order to hone the skills they had acquired. I
implemented the first CNC DNC network systems, the Machine data collection system in 2010
and the current AutoCrib tooling system.
• I have received numerous training classes and certificates in various fields such as CNC
programming, Fanuc PLC Ladder Logic Development, Macro B programming. OSHA procedures,
ISO auditing, lean manufacturing, 5S, Department of Labor laws, Employee Motivation, how to
become a proficient Manager, Team building, Employee Motivation and many other managerial
seminars and class's.
