When working slip-stitches (ss) at the end of the rounds, work
either into the top of the next stitch or into the 3rd ch of the
ch-3 made at the beginning of the round.

Fastening off and rejoining yarn

Using G/6 (E/4) hook and Fern (Peach) ch4, join with a ss to into same ch-sp, * ch6, working back along ch-6 just made,
form a ring. skip next ch, 1sc into next ch, 1hdc into next ch, 1dc into each
next 2ch, 1hdc into next ch, 1sc into same ch-sp at base of ch-6,
Foundation Round: ch1 (does not count as a st), 8sc into ring, ss ch1, 1sc into next ch-sp; repeat from * to end, omitting 1sc on

Part 2 | Acanthus YARN USAGE – COLOUR RECIPE 1:

Life DK: 100g – 326yds (298m),


When designing this project I knew from the start that the 75% Premium Acrylic, 25% Wool.
rectangular motifs on the outside main border were going
to be a challenge. I played around with ways of making
them, but I simply couldn’t capture the kind of look and
feel that I wanted for the crochet. As it approached my

managed to get my head around this piece – I knew I wanted
it to feature Acanthus leafs, but I simply couldn’t work out Equipment

In the end this piece ended up taking me around 5 weeks Stitch Markers
to design. I made piece after piece after piece, each time
getting closer and closer to how I wanted the motif to
look. I think I made 7 completed rectangles and countless YARN USAGE – COLOUR RECIPE 2:
bits and pieces, which may or may not have resembled an
Naturals – Bamboo + Cotton: 100g - 273yds (250m),
Acanthus leaf, before I was happy with the way it looked. 60% Bamboo, 40% Cotton.
Writing the pattern was a pretty mammoth task too, but I
am so pleased with how this motif turned out in the end.

The Acanthus motif has been split up into parts to make it 7155 7160 7154
easier for you to work through. In this set of patterns you Celery Night Pumice
need to work the chain ring at the beginning plus just 3
rounds of the motif. Hopefully breaking the patterns for

working ch1 (does not count as a st), 2sc into same st, * SPsc
into centre of ring, skip st under SPsc, 2sc into next st; repeat
from * to end, omitting 2sc on final pattern repeat, ss to join,
fasten off. (12sts)

Round 2: Using Parchment (Pumice) join yarn into front loop


of any st by working ch1 + ch2 (counts as 1dc), working into
front loop of all sts, 1dc into same st, ch3, ss into st at base of
ch-3 to make picot, * 2dc into next st, make picot; repeat from
* to end, ss to join, fasten off. (24sts & 12 picots made)

Approximate Measurement: 2¼in (5.5cm) across widest


point. (Naturals – Bamboo + Cotton 2in (5cm))

Make 7 more to match.

Note: I suggest you do not block the motifs at this point.
