Objective of India Post 2012
– Modernization and computerization of all Post offices in
the country including Branch Post offices in rural areas,
mail offices and administrative and other offices;
– Development of scalable, integrated and modular software
covering all operations of the Department of Posts such as
Mail Operations, Postal Banking, Insurance, Finance and
HR;
– Establishment of required IT Infrastructure including Data
centre, Wide Area Network (WAN) based networking of
the departmental post offices; and
– Deployment of Rural Information Communication
Technology (Rural ICT) infrastructure in all ~1,30,000 Rural
Post Offices.

1.Network integrator (NI)
– This will provide dedicated network connectivity
to all Departmental Post Offices. M/s SIFY is the
vendor
• MOU with SIFY contains these items
• Providing NSP1 and NSP2 Connectivity to all
departmental post offices.
• NSP1- Through BSNL Line only
• NSP2- Through Wireless Connectivity

• In NI Offices are classified in these categories
• A Class-Offices having more than 50 Systems
• B Class-Offices having more than 10 Systems
• C Class-Offices having more than 2 Systems
• D Class-Offices having 2 Systems
• E Class-Offices having 1 System

• As per NI Classification A, B, C offices having
MPLS Connectivity as NSP1 and feasible RF as
NSP2

• D and E Class offices having VPN Over Broad


Band connection as NSP1 and Dongle as NSP

• M/s SIFY maitaining its Central NOC at


Chennai

2.Data centre (DC) facility
• This will setup data centre for hosting
applications; M/s Reliance is selected as
vendor
• Data Center is located in Dhirubhai Ambani
City New Mumbai
• Data Recovery Center is located in Campus of
PTC Mysore

3.Financial System Integrator(FSI)
Provides core banking solutions (CBS) for Postal
Savings Bank and PLI/RPLI services; M/s Infosys is
the vendor
Finacle – For Savings Bank Transactions
McCamish- For Postal Life Insurance Transactions.
ECMS for Both Finacle and McCamish done by IBM
Datacap Application which is prepared by IBM and
Purchased by Infosys.

4.Core System Integrtor (CSI)


– Provides solutions for Finance and accounts,
Human Resources and Payroll; Also provides
different customer interface channels; Also
performs reporting and analysis. M/s TCS is the
vendor.
– TCS Prepared POS and POS BO modules in Java
Flat form and purchased and customised SAP from
German Based company .

• POS module is Offline. Working with Data
Synchronizing concept and SAP is online web
application.

• IPVS-Despatch, Despatch part of Speednet
• DPMS- Postman, eMO, Speednet
• F and A in SAP- Treasury and Subaccount

introduced

• Rural Information & communication
Technology – Rural Hardware (RICT-RH)
• Provides multifunctional hand held devices in
the rural Post offices specially BOs. Vendor is
M/s Richo
• Further RICHO company is tied up with
Visiontek and supplied POS G11 machines to
Branch offices which are well known as MCD(
Main Computing Device ) in our department.

• Rural Information & communication


Technology System integrator (RICT - SI)
– Provides software solutions for all Postal facilities
and financial services in rural areas including
MGNREGS and eMO; M/s Infosys is the vendor
– Presently With TCS Softwares integrated with CSI
Branch offices are working with Apps called
Demobooking, Dell Aps etc

• Mail offices hardware (MOH)

– This will provide hardware to mail offices


– This RFP includes providing Postman Hand Held
Device and Automated Sorting Machines to Large
Mail Offices.

• Change management (CM)


– This will manage training, re skilling and capacity
building among employees to facilitate process
changes; M/s TCS is the vendor
– Department Nominated Divisional Head as
Change leader
– Change Agents are conducting workshop and
transmitting the information related to
development up to End Users
