CO2 Operation

System components :
- CO2 room Consists of :
18 cylinders as 1 set.
8 cylinders as 1 set.
2 cylinders as pilot.
3 booster valves.
Delay time unit with 2 bottles.
7bar air line for test and flush the system after use.
- CO2 release box beside Acc. entrance for extinguishing the AFT,
FWD engine room.
- CO2 release box inside Acc. entrance for extinguishing the pump
room.
Operating the system :
1- Ensure all personnel are out of the protected space, doors are closed.
2- At CO2 release box for the protected area, Break glass, take key, open
release box that will sound alarm and stop ventilation fans.
3- Pull both handles in the CO2 release box.
4- Booster valve and pilot cylinders will open, the delay time unit will
function, After 30 seconds main valve will open, CO2 gas will be
discharged.
A- System emergency operation:
B- Ensure all personnel are out of the protected space, doors are closed.
1- Open the engine room booster valve.
2- Pull the handles of 2 master cylinders alarms will sound, ventilation
fans stop.
3- Booster valve and pilot cylinders will open, the delay time unit will
function, After 30 seconds main valve will open, CO2 gas will be
discharged.
Note:
- In case of engine room fire both cylinders sets will open,
In case of pump room fire only the 8 cylinder set will open.
- After fire open the 7 bar air valve to flush the CO2 system pipes.
- do not enter until room is ventilated.
- check oxygen level before entry.
- use breathing apparatus for urgent entry.
