The document summarizes the JUROGAM II project for future gamma-ray spectroscopy. It provides background on the previous JUROSPHERE and JUROGAM experiments. JUROGAM II aims to improve the detector efficiency to 6% and study topics like shape coexistence, heavy nuclei, nuclei near the drip line, isomeric states, and transfer reactions on superheavy elements. It will utilize the existing JUROGAM array coupled to new developments like digital electronics, upgraded focal plane detectors, and a new JYFL vacuum separator to enable new types of experiments.

New JYFL Vacuum Separator

What kind of research work can be done were the RITU separator is not feasible:

Probing the N ≈ Z line up to 112Ba

- decay spectroscopy (proton and α-particle decay) at the 100Sn region
- rp-process
- proton-neutron pairing interaction
- mirror nuclei
o study of isospin symmetry breaking
o proton skins (N < Z nuclei)
- superdeformation and hyperdeformation (N ≈ Z ≈ 40)
