NARRATIVE REPORT (MID-YEAR INSET 2020-2021)
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering
can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
-HELLEN KELLER -
The Masaguisi National High School with the theme “Project CARES (Conquering Adversities
to Rebuild Excellence in Service)” conducted the School-Based In-Service Training Programs for
Teachers from March 15-19, 2020 at the school’s Session Hall.
The said activity was ushered to strengthen and equip teachers on the current trends and
necessary things and skills they ought to have during the new normal set-up in educations. Each
session was anchored to attain the following objectives:
1. To facilitate SBM (School-Based Management) planning for the last 2 remaining quarters.
2. Improve teachers ability in using technology in printed modular modality;
3. Enhance teachers skills in the preparation of the instructional materials, (contextualization,
localization, indigenization) , review and print modules for remote/distance learning;
4. Enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice skills, and attitudes.
The first day session started with a short Opening Program. The program started with the
singing of the National Anthem, Prayer, and singing of the Mimaropa Hymn. After the energizer
prepared by Mrs. Verna S. Mabborang, Mrs. Mercedita D. Gabay, Pricipal II, inspired and challenged
the teachers as she delivered her message. After this, Mr. Pedro C. De Guzman presented in a very
lively manner the Code of Ethics and Professionalism for Teachers. Mr. Darwin Cabuscabus followed
and discussed Learners Developmental Needs. Mr. Cabuscabus focused on the holistic approach to
learning in all Five Areas of Development. The day ended with the discussion from Ms. Janet
Gabute, who reiterated the importance of Positive Discipline.
The second day session overflowed with enthusiasm, joy, and energy as Mrs. Ceeline Joy R.
Ajero led the prayer with the energizer prepared by Mrs. Lourdes Violeta. Miss Emmaruth M.
Famorcan, the school’s Guidance Coordinator discussed Child Protection Policy as the morning
session started formally. Her discussion circled in Safeguarding in the New Normal. Ms. Famorcan
gave light on Psycho-Social Intervention for Teachers and Learners as she started the afternoon
session with another discussion. Mrs. Ceelne Joy R. Ajero once again took the floor after Ms.
Famorcan and shared her knowledge about Challenges In Modular Learning. The Session Hall was
filled with laughter and excitement when Mrs. Verna S. Mabborang and Mr. Benjamin Galindez
presented their topic Effective Feedbacking as an adaptation from “Pilipinas Got Talent”, hash-
tagged “Waves Got Talent”. It was indeed a very entertaining and educating way to end the day
filed with fun and laughter.
The third day of the INSET favors everyone as Mr. Marknel C. Manzanal and Miss Donnabel
Ferias discussed Effective Intervention in Modular Distance Learning. Here, expectations from
modules, learners, and parents were given emphasis. Participants were grouped into 5 and asked to
prepare a short skit reflecting the expectations in comparison to reality of the three components
mentioned. Mrs. Nimfa S. Garcia brought to the group as she started her discussion on Rerearch,
the effective techniques on how to write an Action Research as she meticulously presented and
evaluated samples. The day ended with an inspiring and invigorating discussion from Mrs. Teobeth
A. Concepcion who discussed Community Linkages.
Mrs. Glenore U. Mortos, an AP Major, showed skills and professionalism of a seasoned
teacher as she delivered her demonstration teaching on the 4 th day of INSET. She manifested
characteristics of a quality teacher as she goes on with her demonstration. It is clearly evidenced her
mastery of content and application of various teaching strategies. The day ended with a LAC (Split
Session) by Major. The session focused on Localization and Intervention for Least-Mastered
Competencies. The participants demonstrated eagerness, willingness and enthusiasm and got an
opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with colleagues, and learn new pedagogical
approaches.
The Global Pandemic highlighted that the promising future of learning and the accelerated
changes in modes of delivering quality education cannot be separated from the imperative of leaving
no one behind. This is true for the children and youth affected by a lack of resources or enabling
environment to access learning. It is true for the teaching profession and their need for better
training in new methods of education delivery as well as support. Last but not least, it is true for the
education community at large, including local communities, upon whom education continuity
depends during crisis and who are key to building back better.
