NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
(DAY 1)
December 14, 2020
I. INTRODUCTION
“If you plan for a year, plant rice. If you plan for a decade, plant trees. If you plan for a
lifetime, educate people”- Confucius
Teachers play a vital role in the society as they are the ones who serve as the light of the
students as they take the right path of life and gives a big impact unto them. Despite the
pandemic that we are facing education continues and a good quality education must be
ensured for the future of the students.
Every teacher needs to improve, not because they are not good enough but because they
can be even better. That is why every year is another opportunity for teachers to gain
knowledge on the best way to improve their methods and strategies which can be done by
attending trainings such as In-Service Training for Teachers. INSET act as a catalyst for teacher’s
effectiveness. A training by which teachers are taught with skills and given the necessary
knowledge and attitude to enable them to carry out their responsibilities and also to improve
their efficiency, ability, knowledge and motivation in their professional work.
In this aspect, in-service training for teachers is the driving force behind much change that
has occurred in the area of teaching and learning. It is vital that teachers keep up to date on the
most current concepts, thinking and research in their field and promote professional growth
among teachers in order to promote excellent and effective teaching and learning environment
for students.
It offers one of the most promising roads to the improvement of instruction. It includes goal
and content, the training process and the context.
II. OBJECTIVE/S

objectives.

III. ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Rizal National High School conducted its 5 day In-Service Training for Teacher at Rizal NHS
function hall and covered court on December 14-18, 2020
To equip teachers with new knowledge and skills, the first day of INSET went smoothly as
the different speakers discussed different topics which enlightened the minds of everyone . The
first topic was financial literacy given by Mr. Allan Potesdades whereas teachers able to know
ways on how they should expend their money wisely and awareness of the importance of
investing. The next topic was given by Sir Frederick Bacungan where he explained about the
procurement procedure. Teachers able to know the process upon doing it like if they have to
request for materials needed in their classroom which made everyone understand it as Sir
Bacungan discussed it well. The last topic in the was about the gender awareness and
development, the first part was tackled by Ma’am Concesa Lamery wherein she talked about
the mainstreaming, she also gave some points about it like when this happened and where the
issues about gender started and also what does it really mean. On the other hand, Ma’am
Marilu A. Federi gave the basic concepts about GAD which made the teachers realized the
importance of this topic. Imposing gender sensitivity that teachers must start doing the right
thing about it. Our education system must be gender sensitive and gender friendly in order to
overcome gender inequality.
IV. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
In every beginning of a seminar, we cannot deny the fact that errors were still present that’s
why there’s the so-called room for improvement that we can do in order not to happen again.
As the day 1 of INSET was conducted, there were certain problems encountered such as the
venue and unnecessary noise. The venue in the morning was held in the function hall where the
place was not properly ventilated because the reconstruction of the hall was not totally
finished which made the participants uncomfortable due to the weather that led to moving to
the covered court as the seminar continue in the afternoon. With regards the unnecessary
noise, some were not paying attention to the topics that they kept on talking with their
seatmates that cause distraction to others.
V. SUGGESTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
Due to the weather condition, we would like to suggest that the venue must always be
conducive to learning, a place with enough space and properly ventilated which will make
everyone enjoy the atmosphere while learning. The idea of having a plan A and B that Rizal NHS
have done was indeed highly recommended.
