3rd Grade Solar System Lesson Plan

1. This lesson plan teaches 3rd grade students about the solar system through a BrainPOP video, Google Slides presentation, activities classifying planets, and a Nearpod game. 2. Students will learn about the inner and outer planets, their order and positions relative to the Sun, and characteristics of each planet. 3. Assessment includes informal observations during activities and a formal Nearpod game to evaluate students' understanding of the solar system.

3. Students along with the teacher will complete several

activities where they will have to classify planets as inner
or outer planets and terrestrial or gassy planets.

4. They will order and identify the planets in their order and
will label the planets based on the characteristics that
were provided.

5. Students will also learn about dwarf planets and will

complete an activity on dwarf planets.

6. To formally assess students, they will complete a 15
