Code of Ethics

I, Sarah Glynn, commit myself to abide and live by the values of early childhood education as
they are presented in the ideals and principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct with all
the power I have control of.

To Children
I will ensure that each child is cared for individually for each of their unique stages of the
human life cycle. CS
I will never harm a child in any way. PS
I will care for and educate children in the best way I can that supports each child’s culture,
language, ethnicity, and family structure. PS
I commit to be up to date with current knowledge of childhood care and education. IS
I will recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child. IS

To Families
I will support the importance of the bond between the child and family. CS
I will make every effort to communicate effectively with all families in a language that they
understand. PS
I will be confidential in all children’s assessment information and share this information only
when there is a legitimate need for it. PS
I will welcome all family members to participate as much as they can in their child’s program,
including involvement in shared decision making. IS
I will commit to develop relationships trust and loyalty with the families I serve. IS

To Collogues and Employers

I will respect the diversity in children, families, and colleagues. CP
I will not discriminate any co-worker because of their sex, race, national origin, religious beliefs,
or other affiliations, age, marital status/family structure, disability, or sexual orientation. PS
I will be thoughtful regarding the personal attributes or professional conduct of co-workers. PS
I will strive to develop and maintain relationships of respect, trust, confidentiality with my co-
workers. IS
I will ensure to render co-workers due recognition of professional achievement. IS

To the Community and Society

I will support the fact that children are best understood and supported in the context of family,
culture, community, and society CS
I ensure that I will report the knowledge upon which we base our program practices. PS
I will not participate in any situation that violates the safety of the children in our program. PS
I will be an advocate toward an environmentally safe world in which all children receive health,
safety, and nurture. IS
I will support policies and laws that promote the best for children and families, and speak up
when changes need to be made for their well-being. IS
