SHIP OPERATIONS CHECKLIST

Correct Organisation and Safe Procedures OK NOT OK
The lifting equipment used corresponds to the work to be performed and its certificate of
conformity is still valid
The hoist / crane operators are qualified and accredited
Each team is run by a Foreman. This manager is always present in the area where his team is
working, and the crane operator always waits for him to be present.
All dockers present have received safety instructions before starting their tasks
The ship's crew has provided a "lashing box" intended for damaged twist-locks. Damaged twist-
locks are removed and put into this box.
The on-board handling team manager (or assistant) and the hoist / crane operators have walky
talkies
At night each team has 2 electric torches in working order
The foreman waits until the dockers responsible for fastening/releasing are seen and are out of
danger to control the lifting
All dockers present are able to carry out their task safely (no injury, deformation, intoxication or
weakness)
All dockers present have undergone Q-HSE induction
Vehicles waiting to be loaded/unloaded and parked vehicles are parked in the designated area
Operations Verification
Only the signal man signals to the hoist / crane operator
Dockers are never standing in the danger area, whether on-board or at the quay
Dockers use their PPEs: safety shoes, helmet, gloves, overalls, fluorescent bib (at least) and this
equipment is in good condition
Dockers use ladders in good condition and are fitted with a security harness
Dockers use ropes to stay away from the load and do not perform any unnecessary efforts to
neutralise the load balance
The forklift truck operator manoeuvres and places the forks on the ground carefully before
getting out of the driving position
