How to avail free office 365


This document describes how a student can avail the free office apps for education.

1. If you have a trial office installed in your computer, please uninstall it first before claiming
your free office 365.
2. Visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office, enter your email
address and click get started.

3. Select I’m a student.

4. Open your email and retrieve your verification code.


* Note: the code is generated randomly and changes in every signup.

5. Go back to the office 365 signup page, input all your details, verification code and click
start button.

6. Once done, you will be redirected to office 365 main page. On the upper right, click the
install button, you may be required to re-enter your password.

7. If you have not set up an account recovery, you need to set it up first.

8. Once done, click on finish.

9. In the office portal, click view devices.

10. In the device list, click on windows.

11. In the microsoft page, click get office apps.

12. In the app list, select the app that you want to install.

13. In the microsoft store, click the get button.

14. Your browser will prompt you to open the microsoft store, click open.

15. In the microsoft store, click the get button and wait until the download completes.

16. Once the download is complete, the app should be available on your computer.

Troubleshooting
Get office 365 messages appearing or the documents are only
available in read only mode.

1. If a personal account is logged in, you need to sign out first. The sign out option is
located on the upper right portion of the app.

2. Click sign out in the list of accounts.

3. If you are not logged in using your CEU Email, click sign in button located at the upper
right portion of the app.

4. In the sign in window, click the Work or School Account then click continue.

5. Enter your CEU email and microsoft office password. Click sign in button.

6. Once signed in, close the app and reopen. You should be able to use the app with edit
available.
