question.
ASSET is a scientifically
designed diagnostic
test, which stands
for Assessment of
Scholastic Skills through
Educational Testing.
ASSET is a serious diagnostic test that actually helps
students improve. Unlike regular tests which try only to
find out how much a student knows or has memorized
ASSET measures how well a student has understood
concepts and gives detailed feedback on the same, to
help them improve.
Teachers get detailed feedback containing their class’s
performance benchmarked with performance of other
division of the same class - same school as well as with
same class of other schools across India. This report
also contains insights of concepts that the class have
understood well and those that have a problem.
The reports are accompanied by an instructional
supplement suggesting the future course of action for
both students as well as teachers.

Assessments are usually meant
to serve three main purposes –
to enable students to determine
their level of understanding in
the concepts, to provide the
educators with a feedback on the
effectiveness of their teaching and
to provide data which can help
deliver focussed instructions.
ASSET aims to enable effective
education for all stake holders.
Students
With ASSET, students can obtain an accurate
feedback on their strengths and weaknesses and
further improve their skills by themselves being

continuous skill improvement.
Schools
ASSET enables schools to keep an eye on the
overall progress of the students and scale their
performance in comparison to other schools in the
country. The performance and effectiveness of the

teachers can also be tracked through the detailed
reports.

The Evaluation
Process
Report cards in school usually show the marks and any
inconsistency indicates that the student has gone wrong.
However, neither the student nor the teacher can pin-point the
root cause behind the irregularity in performance, thus limiting
further improvement.
ASSET believes in continuous improvement by solving
the core problems.
With ASSET, the evaluation is presented in the form of
a detailed report for both students as well as teachers.
The comprehensive analysis has understanding of the
child’s scholastic learning and also suggest relevant
step for improvement.
The colour-coded format of the reports organizes the
data and enables effortless browsing.
The reports include a teacher as well as student
centric report respectively – the Teacher MyBook and
the Student MyBook.
ASSET, through extensive research in the field of
learning, has made sure students, educators and
parents can reap utmost benefits out of the evaluation
process through the following assistance reports.

as well as areas which need to be worked on.

ASSET helps in determining the scholastic strengths
and weaknesses of the entire class and suggest further

Annual Analysis
The yearly report depicts the improvement in the school
scholastic performance each year.
Divisional Analysis
In order to benchmark performance, ASSET provides
sectional analysis of each division of a grade in order to
weigh the performance in comparison to other divisions
in the same school as well as nationally.
Class Performance Table
ASSET generates class-wise reports for each
student in individual subjects. This helps identify the
misconceptions and forms a platform for further action.
Question Complexity Indicator
ASSET points the 3 questions that the students found
most difficult to attempt as well as the ones they found
most easy. This facilitates the teachers to further
improvise on the questions students are tested on.
Advisory Council
Face-to-face interaction always facilitates clarity in
communication and better decision making.
Along with theoretical reports, EI organizes personal
discussions in schools with group of subject teachers
and advising them on building remedial plans for
specific misconceptions identified through ASSET.

We, at Educational Initiatives,
believe in constantly building
interest in students towards
education. Students, and teachers
and parents alike, should enjoy the

treat it like a compulsory chore.
The ASSET Week is full of engaging activities, contests
and prizes leading up to the ASSET test. The purpose
of the celebrations is to highlight the role of ASSET in
improving learning at the individual student’s level as
well as at the school level amongst students, parents

Dear Parent,
ASSET – A DIAGNOSTIC SKILL BASED ASSESSMENT
This year I would like our students to participate in an international assessment test called ASSET
developed by world reknowned team of educational experts. The team comprises of IIT, IIM-A
alumin; brilliant teachers, principals, educationists. We are preparing our students for tomorrow and
hence it is important for us to understand how well our students are learning, with the help of this
team who have been working in the educational research domain for the past 10 years.
Over 1000 schools have incorporated ASSET as part of their curriculum and over 1 MILLION students
have taken ASSET so far. ASSET is a unique test that checks the depth of students’ understanding on
concepts that are taught in the class. The test is available in English, Maths, Science, Social Studies
and Hindi for students of Classes 3 to 10. The fee for the test is `350 for English, Maths and Science
(Classes 3 to 10) and `150 each for Hindi (Classes 4 to 8) and Social Studies (Classes 5 to 9).
The test consists of Critical-Thinking multiple choice questions and provides feedback on students’
vocabulary levels, their ability to comprehend texts in varied formats, apply the concepts taught in
real life situations, ability to restate learning in own words, ability to integrate learning from different
sources and ultimately develop a love for learning and understanding new things.
All students will receive a Certificate and ASSET MyBook. ASSET MyBook is a personalised
instructional material for each student based on their performance in the test. It contains detailed
analysis of each of the questions and their answers pinpointing the student’s strengths and
weaknesses in concepts. It also contains questions that students got wrong and follows it up with
explanations. Further it contains practice questions on which students has problems. Thus this
booklet is a diagnostic and improvement tool for each student.
It is also worth noting that Class 7 students scoring the 95th percentile or higher in the ASSET Maths,
Science and/or English tests, taken in August 2011, would be eligible to participate in the Duke
TIP India Talent Search. This talent search programme is offered by Duke University, one of the top
10 universities in the US, in partnership with ASSET only. The Duke Talent Identification Program
(Duke TIP) is a gifted education program being conducted in USA for past 30 years and for the last 2
years in India. Its purpose is to identify gifted students and provide them with educational resources
for them to reach their full potential. More information is available on the Duke TIP website at www.
tip.duke.edu/india
I am quite convinced that students will enjoy doing the ASSET tests as they are stress-free, requires
no prior preparation and will benefit greatly from the individualised analysis and remedials in form of
practice questions in Student MyBook. Please visit www.ei-india.com for more information on how
ASSET is helping children and schools across the country.
We do look forward to your continued support towards the initiatives taken by the school in helping
our students become Critical Thinkers.
Yours truly,
Principal
