ABSTRACT
The internship in broad-spectrum contains eight chapters in which i try to explain my one month
in my hosting company .The content of all chapters is broadly explained and it is constructed
from the practical basis of site work.
At first I gave details to the company background including its mission ,vision ,the projects
those runs through the company consultation.
At site I practically studied and learnt, what I used to study in college. This helped me to
understand how the actual works are done at site. I learnt shuttering works for compound
wall. I learnt about inner and outer walls plastering which is done using cement plaster and
learnt about pop and painting.
It is obvious that the internship has put in terms of improving skills and different abilities as a
whole. I learnt many things during my intership period which helped me to gain practical
knowledge.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project name: Snn Clermont
Project details: 2 basement,G+40 ,427 units.
Unit configuration: 3BHK,4BHK,5BHK.
Site details: The internship at Snn Clermont is located at hebbal, outer ring road,
opp to Nagavara lake. It is a G+40 apartment comprising of 427 flats.
7acres, 28 guntas,5 towers of 40 floors.3,4,5 BHK Vaastu complaint apartments
and penthouses-sizes from 2500-6600 sq.ft. Exclusive club house and sports
complex, Snn signature landscape.
The construction began in 2012 and it is said to available on mar 2020.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE AND PROJECT

TASK PERFORMED IN THE SITE
I have been working with the site engineer at the office and observed various
construction activities on the site. The site engineer was always explaining works
performed in the office and I have worked with the Supervisor and Site Engineer
while performing activities on the site. As a new person to join the site; my first
task was getting accustomed with the professional workers and other stake holders
on the site. After this I have focused on my activities by ensuring proper interaction
with my Site Engineer, supervisor and other workers. For better explanation of the
activities covered; I have divided this section in to two parts .i.e. activities in the
office and on the site.

PROJECT SPECIFICATION
Major construction material specifications for the project are concrete grade M10
for PCC work,M20 for shear walls, slabs and staircases,M25 for Retaining
walls,M35 and M40 for columns in basement and 1st floor to 40th floor
respectively. Steel used is Fe500 and concrete is used through all ready mix
concrete. Apart from this a mix ratio of 1:6 is used for plastering work.

CHAPTER 4
SHUTTERING FORMWORK
Temporary structure which is used as a mould to pour the concrete. It is a vertical
or horizontal arrangement made to keep concrete in position until it gains strength
& shape
Procedure
• Initially clean the plywood members and apply oil to them.
• Based on the starter concrete the plywood members should be placed.
• Proper bracing at equal intervals should be done. So, that the members
are stiff and hold together.
• At last in order to prevent the sway of the columns proper support
should be given on all sides of the formwork.

Checks should be made are
The formwork should be well placed and firm i.e. no movement should be there.
The shuttering should satisfy the plumb.
The diagonals should be equal for the column formwork.
Formwork for column is done after tieing the reinforcements. The type
of Formwork used for columns is partial shuttering. In this type, four
different plates of shuttering is arranged in proper manner with the help of clamps
and Tie rods.

CHAPTER 5
BLOCK WORK
Blocks of concrete blocks and aerated blocks are used in this project. Aerated are
usually much larger than concrete blocks and so are much faster to lay for a wall of
given size.
Points to Be Considered During Block Work
• The blocks must be checked for size, bulge and finishing. Marking should be
done either manually or by Total Station
• The sand must be sieved, blocks must be wet and cement must be mixed on
the mixing tray using measuring box.
• Plumb level and line should be checked at the time of execution.
• Pointing should be done properly at both sides
• The openings should be marked and checked with template
• Ensure cleaning before starting and after completion of work
• Date should be maintained for curing.
Steps involved in Block Work
• Surface preparation, laying of mortar and placing of blocks
• Checking verticality with Plumb Bob
• Ensuring horizontality of blocks by leveling with Straight Edge
• Filling the gaps between blocks with mortar
• Laying of second course
• The mix proportion of mortar is 1:6.
• The size of concrete block used is 400x200x190mm.

CHAPTER 6
PLASTERING
Plastering is normally applied to provide perfect coating to the outside and inside
surface of wall. Cement plaster is normally given in a single coat or double coat.
Double coat plaster is suitable where thickness of plaster is retained in excess of 15
mm or when it is necessary to maintain very fine finish.
MATERIAL REQUIRED FOR PLASTERING

The method for double coat cement plaster involves the following steps
STEP-1 (MAKING THE SURFACE READY FOR PLASTERING)
• Retain all the mortar joints of wall rough, in order to maintain a good
bonding to retain plaster.
• Use a wire brush to cleanse all the joints and surfaces of the wall with a wire
brush, the wall surface does not contain any oil or grease etc. left on wall
surface.
• In case the surface is smooth or the plastering wall is old one, then extract
the mortar joint to a depth of minimum 12 mm to provide a superior bonding
to the plaster.
• If the projection on the wall surface remains over 12 mm, then rub it out to
maintain a smooth surface of wall. It will minimize the consumption of
plaster.
• For any cavities or holes on the surface, fill it with exact material
beforehand.
• Roughen the whole wall to be plastered. Wash the mortar joints and whole
wall to be plastered, and make it wet for minimum 6 hours prior to use
cement plaster.
STEP-2(PROVIDING FIRST COAT OR UNDER COAT OR RENDERING
COATS)
• For brick masonry the thickness of first coat plaster usually remains 12 mm
and for concrete masonry this thickness differs from 9 to 15 mm.
• The proportion of cement and sand for first coat plaster differs from 1:3 to
1:6.
• By using a trowel, provide the first coat of plaster among the spaces
developed with the screeds on the wall surface.
The surface should be leveled with flat wooden floats and wooden straight
edges.
• Once the leveling is finished, leave the first coat to set but not to dry and
then roughen it by a scratching tool to develop a key to the second coat of
plaster.

STEP-3 (PROVIDING SECOND COAT OR FINISHING COAT OR FINE
COAT)
• The thickness of second coat or finishing coat may differ from 2 to 3 mm.
• The proportion of cement and sand for second coat plaster differs from 1:4
to 1:6
• Prior to provide the second coat, moist the first coat uniformly.
• Provide the finishing coat with wooden floats to a perfect uniform surface
and apply finishing touch with a steel trowel.
• If possible, the finishing coat should be provided starting from top towards
bottom and finished in one operation to remove joining marks.
As soon as the plastering work is completed, water should be sprinkled over it to
keep moist for minimum 7 days to maintain strength and hardness.

CHAPTER 7
POP AND PAINTING
Plaster Of Paris (POP)
Plaster of Paris is regarded as any type of plaster containing calcined gypsum
(calcium sulfate dihydrate), sand and water. When these ingredients are combined,
they result in the formation of a tough, dry product; however, plaster of Paris can
be sanded to achieve a variety of looks. By following some basic guidelines, you
can use plaster of Paris to mend cracks, for ceiling, in walls and even to create
artworks.
Advantages
• Plaster of Paris is used for ceiling and walls as a protective coating. It gives
a smooth, shining surface.
• POP can be cast into any shape and thus can be used to create ornamented
designs for ceiling.
• Plaster of Paris can gel with other materials like glass and wood to provide
you a composite ceiling.
• POP false ceiling can be made interesting by providing different levels in the
ceiling.

PAINTING
Interior painting process: Painting is a five step process
• First painters will clean building walls and ceiling
• Apply primer.
• Apply wall putty.
• Apply wall putty-second coat.
• Apply selected paint coat.
• Apply selected paint coat - final one.
Applying Primer:This is the first step in painting process.
Applying Putty:
• This process will bring smooth surface to the walls. To identify/test
smoothness we can take a tube light and wall under that lighting, we will
come to know smoothness of wall.
• If plastering was not done properly then we will end up spending more
amount on wall putty.
Applying paint:
Once putty was applied then paint coat will start. Once we finish one quote of
painting electrical people will fix switches. Carpenters can start working on
wardrobes and kitchen wood work. Once all works are finished we can go for
second quote.
Exterior painting process:
Painting is a three step process. First painters will clean building walls.
• Apply primer.
• Apply selected paint coat.
• Apply selected paint coat -final one.
Apex duracast roughtex is used as the finishes for external walls.
Advantages
Hide cracks, tough textured, plaster protection, UV resistance, releases moisture,
anti-algal.

SUMMARY
• Studied about the plans of towers, materials used for construction, safety
measures to be followed while working in site.
• Learnt about shuttering formwork, block work, plastering of the walls, pop
and painting and also fixing of commnication box, fire box, electrical box
and finishing for windows using silicon.
