Syllabus in Christian Living Education 7

FIRST QUARTER

Grade Level Standard


The learners appreciate God’s great redeeming presence and love and deepen their love and faith in Him through the Sacred
Scriptures and become more receptive to God who calls them today to a mature faith relationship.

Content Standard
The learners demonstrate understanding of prayer as a mean of faith response to God as demonstrated in their active participation in
the celebration of the Holy Eucharist; the Sacred Scriptures, its contents and offer guidelines on how the Bible can become meaningful
and truthful in studying the salvation history and more so as God’s living word for them now; God’s Revelation of Himself through the
creation stories as presented in the book of Genesis.

Performance Standard
The learners transfer learning by showing appreciation through mastery of the basic prayers and the responses of the Eucharistic
celebration; masterfully locating and using the books of the Bible as source of reflections and prayer; reflecting and acting on the
practical implication of the creation truth of God’s Revelation and its purpose.

The learners demonstrate understanding of sin as a person’s free decision not to love which consequently causes pain and suffering;
the sin paradox; God as a merciful Father who does not condemn us but fast in forgiving and accepting; the truths that God is always
first to reach out to us in by revealing himself to us; God enters into a covenant relationship with his people and share his salvific plan
with us; the truths that God revealed himself not just to individuals but also to nations and communities as a God of history and
freedom; God gives us true freedom and remains faithful even when we are unfaithful to Him; God showed his concern for His people
by calling exemplary individuals to lead them their settlement in the promised land; God was faithful to his promise that He would
remain always with His people; basic understanding of Mary’s role in the salvation plan of God.

Performance Standard
The learners transfer learning by: avoiding sin, resisting evil, recognize our own sinfulness and need for God saving love, see evil and
suffering in the world in the eyes of God; pray the Confiteor as confession of sin at the beginning of the Mass; celebrate the Sacrament
of Reconciliation; do acts of service to others and forgiving those who wronged us.

Grade Level Standard: The learners appreciate God’s great redeeming presence and love for them now, and deepen their love and
faith in Him through the Sacred Scriptures.
Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of: God’s choosing David to be an instrument in furthering his plan of

FOURTH QUARTER
Grade Level Standard: The learners appreciate God’s great redeeming presence and love for them now, and deepen their love and
faith in Him through the Sacred Scriptures.
Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of: the prophets of the Old Testament serve as spokespersons who
reminded the Israelites and us of our infidelity to God and our neighbor in various ways and context; the prophets also foretold the so
called messianic prophecies pointing to Jesus as the promised Savior; the prophets revealed their experience of God as a Just God, A
loving Father, a quiet God, a Divine Potter, the good Shepherd, the Holy One, the Savior of All; The prophets served as conscience for
Israel-pointing out to their sins, and calling them and us to conversion, change and renewal; the Book of Isaiah is a rich source of
liturgical readings during the seasons of Advent, Christmas and Lent; God revealed Himself in stages. In the OT God revealed himself
through biblical signs made up of both words and deeds…Today through His inspired word in the Old Testament, God reveals himself
to us and inspires us to respond to His covenant; Faith is our response to God’s revelation. It is a gift from God as well as human act;
each of us has a calling, a mission in life; faith is also entrusting ourselves in God’s hands through prayer and sincere worship.
