The Power of the Media and Information to Affect
Changes, The Responsibility of the User
The power of the Media is enormous, so much that Governments do their best
to control them. The Media can affect the outcome of elections, destroy a
person's character, A company’s reputation and or its products. The Media is
accountable for how it presents the News/Information to the public. All
information must be verified and double checked before it is released to the
Public. The responsibilities of the Media cannot be understated to ensure the
information is accurate. The power of the Media must remain free to report
the information it has and provide a narrative to ensure the public receives all
information in a timely manner without influences.
The Media can be used to affect change in many ways. The changes can be
towards Social Behavior to ensure the general Public is aware of those certain
behaviors are that are not acceptable or the ones that are acceptable in public.
The Media can affect changes toward awareness of accepting Handicap people
in public or if a person choose to express a different sexuality e.g., Homosexual
or Transsexual, or the acceptance of all color of people or the ethics of race.
The responsibility of the user is to ensure the information that they are
receiving is reliable. The sources need to be creditable. The User should be able
to check more than one source to ensure the accuracy of the information. Not
doing so and accepting the information as accurate could mislead the user into
thinking the information was accurate and in fact information was published
just to mislead you so the originator will benefit from your acceptance or
actions. The User will be held responsible even if they said “Well, I read it so it
must be true”. Verifying your information is your responsibility and on one
else.
In closing, the power of the Media and Information to affect change is Hugh
and should never be underestimated as to the effect on the general Public. It is
the user who must be aware of the source to ensure they are receiving the
highest possible accreted information before moving forward.
