Introduction
A home is a warm and peaceful place for the families and children, it binds the family by
the memories they have shared together that is why people always want to secure their
belongings specially to their lovely home. They put locks or padlocks to secure their things
inside the house or buildings. It is great for them to secure and monitor their belongings even
when they are not around.
A. Background of the Study
Sensors have been around for many years now. It serves convenience in the everyday life
of human beings and even business establishments. An additional feature that enhances the
security aspect of the system is its capability to monitor entry points such as doors and windows
(Assaf et al., 2014). From the researcher’s creative minds they have conducted a “Knock Lock”
device. This device would be a great help for the families and business establishment to prevent
their things from intruders stealing valuable stuff.
The proposed sensor can detect a pattern of knocking, the pattern can be specifically set
and programmed by the user itself. Hence, if the knock pattern is accurate, it will unlock the
door. On the other hand, if the knock is incorrect, the door will stay locked, assuming the user’s
safety.
This sensor made use of Arduino UNO, piezo buzzer, and servo motor. Consequently, a
low-cost Arduino UNO board is used to implement the complete automated process (Das et al.,
2016). In this way, the students were provided with opportunities to experience Arduino-assisted
robotic and coding applications and to integrate such applications into their daily life (Cakir &
Guven, 2019). The piezo buzzer, although it is usually used to produce sounds, the researchers
2
used it as a microphone instead. It serves as the sensor for the vibration through a surface when
knocking on a door. Moreover, the servo motor is used for the door lock itself. Along with other
electronic components such us resistors and jumper wires.

simplified step-by-step process of the sensor which this study is all about. It discusses how the
sensor would be made by the creators, in complete order.
C. Scope and Delimitation
Scope
4
It can detect pattern of knocking.
The user does not need to use the usual lock or padlock.
It can secure belongings in a certain home.
This sensor is advanced-security.
It is convenient in everyday life.
Delimitation
It is easier to use the knock pattern than using padlock.
The user does not need padlock because Automatic Knock Sensing Door Lock System is
easy to use .
The Automatic Knock Sensing Door Lock System can secure the user’s belongings even
more than a lock or padlock that can usually be unlocked by bobby pins.
Knock lock sensor is more advanced-security than a lock or padlock/
It is convenient in a person’s everyday life because the user does not need keys anymore
to unlock the door, they can open the door by a knock pattern that only the home owners
will know.
D. Definition of Terms
ARDUINO – an open source electronics platform based on easy to use hardware and software.
SENSOR – a device which detects or measures a physical property and records.
PCB – Printed Circuit Board is a thin board made of fiberglass, composite epoxy, or other
laminate material.

G. Summary of the Whole Project
This research is about how the researchers did the step by step process of the Automatic Knock
Sensing Door Lock System. The said system taught the researchers what and why the
components are needed. It taught them how the components work as well. They were able to
assemble each part of the project.
The project could be easier to work with when the components are tools are complete. Budget is
also significant in making a project like this one because even though it does not require too
much materials, some parts are expensive. That is why a budget should be considered in this
project.
