1. What is Lotto

Lotto is a game of chance, which is played using a field of numbers from 1 through to 90.
Five (5) winning numbers are randomly drawn from 1 to 90 for each Lotto draw to
determine the Prima, Ambo, and Terno winning combinations. An additional three (3)
winning numbers will also be drawn, so that all eight balls drawn are used to determine only
the winning combination of the five numbers of the Quaterno Plus game.

You have four basic playing options:

• Place bet on the first number drawn (Prima)

• Place bet on any two of the five initial numbers drawn (Ambo)
• Place bet on any three of the five initial numbers drawn (Terno)
• Place bet on any five of the eight numbers drawn (Quaterno Plus)

2. Coupon Description

A Coupon is a selection facility in printed form, which is used by a player before purchasing
a Lotto ticket to indicate his selection of numbers or playing options (e.g. playing method,
price, multiplier and number of Consecutive draws, etc.). The following example shows you
how to fill in a Lotto coupon.

3. How Lotto is Played

3.1 Simple Columns

When playing Lotto using the simple method, you should mark one (1) to five (5) numbers
(with an ‘X’) according to the type of game you select, in at least 1 of the 2 game areas of
the coupon.

The types of game are:

• Prima: choose one (1) number and mark the box [P];
• Ambo: choose two (2) numbers and mark the box [A];
• Terno: choose three (3) numbers and mark the box [T];
• Quaterno Plus: choose five (5) numbers and mark the box [Q+].

(View example No. 7.1 for a Terno Simple Column choice)

3.2 Terno–Ambo Selection

This is a special playing style where you select three (3) numbers and mark the box [TA] on
the coupon. With this selection, one Terno combination (3 numbers) and three Ambo
combinations (2 numbers) are created.
(View example No. 7.3)

3.3 Quaterno Plus Selection

This playing style has to always be played on a separate coupon with a basic stake of
€2.00.
(View example No. 7.2)

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 4

3.4 Fully Expanded Systems (combination coupon)

System entries are an alternative way of playing Lotto giving you more chances to win.

A Fully Expanded System entry allows you to select more than the minimum amount of
numbers but not more than 20 in a single game area, for each game type.

Prima: You choose more than one number

Ambo: You choose more than two numbers
Terno: You choose more than three numbers
Quaterno Plus: You choose more than five numbers
(View example No. 7.4)

The four tables on the following page shows the columns created in each Fully Expanded
System of Prima, Ambo, Terno and Quaterno Plus and the cost of each created column:

The Minimum Stake for Prima, Ambo, Terno and Terno-Ambo is €0.50

Quaterno Plus Systems

In the Quaterno Plus Game, you are only allowed to select a basic stake of €2.00.

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 9

If for example, there is a Quaterno Plus top category prize of €300,000 and you play 8
numbers on Quaterno Plus and match 6 numbers, and there are no other players winning
the top prize of the Quaterno Plus game, then you will win:

6 winning columns of 5 numbers - €300,000 (max. potential winnings with 5 nos.)

30 winning columns of 4 numbers - €22,500 (30 x €750)

20 winning columns of 3 numbers - €1,000 + (20 x €50)

= Total €323,500

To take another example, if you once again play 8 numbers and manage to match 5 of
them, 3 of which are the last 3 numbers drawn (3 extra numbers), you will win as follows:

1 winning column of 5 numbers - €300,000 (maximum potential winnings with 5 nos.)

15 winning columns of 4 numbers - €11,250 (15 x €750)

30 winning columns of 3 numbers - €1,500 (30 x €50)

3 winning columns of 2 numbers

from the 3 extra numbers - €30 (3 x €10)

= Total €312,780

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 10

If you play 7 numbers (cost of ticket €42), and match 4 of them, 2 of which are from the last
3 numbers drawn (3 extra numbers), you will win:

3 winning columns of 4 numbers - €2,250 (3 x €750)

12 winning columns of 3 numbers - €600 (12 x €50)

1 winning column of 2 numbers

from the 3 extra numbers - €10 (1 x €10)

= Total €2,860

3.5 Quick Pick

The on-line terminal can also randomly pick the chosen amount of numbers for you.
You just have to:

3.6 Include Different Playing Methods on One Coupon

The on-line system allows you to include different playing methods on one coupon. For
example, on the same coupon you can play in the first game area a simple column, and in
the other game area a Fully Expanded System or Quick Pick. It is your decision which
game playing methods you will include on your coupon.

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 11

In the case of Quaterno Plus, this option is only allowed if on both Game Areas, a player
chooses to play the Quaterno Plus game.
(View example No.7.6)

3.7 Cancellation of Game Area

If you would like to cancel one of the Game Areas of the coupon you have filled, you only
have to mark the VOID box of the relevant Game Area.
(View example No. 7.11)

4. Lotto Draws

The Draw is broadcasted live on TV. Last participation time is 1 hour before the draw.

4.3 How the Draw is conducted

The Lotto draw is publicly held in the presence of:

1. A representative of the Authority

2. A Notary Public
3. Members of the Public

The Notary Public, who will be present at the draw, will draw up and sign a record of the
proceedings which are entered in a register which is kept for that purpose.

4.4 How Many Draws you can Participate in

If you would like to participate with the same coupon for more than one draw, just mark the
relative box/es in the appropriate ”CONSECUTIVE DRAWS” section.

By marking the respective box within the ”CONSECUTIVE DRAWS” section from two (2)
up to ten (10), you have the possibility to increase your frequency of participation by two (2)
up to ten (10) draws.
(View example No. 7.9)

By additionally marking the box (x2) or (x3) you further increase your selected number of
participation draws. You can participate up to a maximum of 30 consecutive draws.

(View example No. 7.10)

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 13

5. Cost of Entry in Lotto

On the coupon, there is an area where you can select the stake: €0.50, €1.00, €2.00 or
€3.00. You should mark with an “X” the basic stake you would like to participate with in
your selected Game Area/s, as shown in the examples 7.1 – 7.10.

The Minimum Stake for Prima, Ambo, Terno and Terno-Ambo is €0.50.

In the Quaterno Plus Game, a player is only allowed to select a basic stake of €2.00.

5.1 Terno-Ambo

If you choose to play Terno-Ambo, according to the basic stake you have selected, the
distribution of the basic stake will be as follows:

a. €0.50 is for one Terno of €0.20 and three Ambos of €0.10 each.
This means that 1 column (Terno) x €0.20 (column price)
+ 3 columns (Ambos) x €0.10 (column price) = €0.50

b. €1.00 is for one Terno of €0.40 and three Ambos of €0.20 each.
This means that 1 column (Terno) x €0.40 (column price)
+ 3 columns (Ambos) x €0.20 (column price) = €1.00

c. €2.00 is for one Terno of €0.80 and three Ambos of €0.40 each.
This means that 1 column (Terno) x €0.80 (column price)
+ 3 columns (Ambos) x €0.40 (column price) = €2.00

d. €3.00 is for one Terno of €1.20 and three Ambos of €0.60 each.

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 14

This means that 1 column (Terno) x €1.20 (column price)
+ 3 columns (Ambos) x €0.60 (column price) = €3.00
(View example No. 7.3)

5.2 Multiplier

In the “MULTIPLIER” section you have the option to multiply your basic stake by selecting
the box with the multiplier of your choice.

By marking the respective box within the “MULTIPLIER” section from two (2) up to ten (10),
you have the possibility to multiply your stake by two (2) up to ten (10) times. For example if
you select the multiplier (6), your stake will be multiplied by six (6) times.
(View example No. 7.7)

By additionally marking the box (x5) and/or (x10), together with one more multiplier box
from two (2) up to ten (10), you have the possibility to further multiply your stake by up to
500 times. If you select the multipliers (10), (x5) and (x10), your stake will be multiplied by
five hundred (500) times.
(View example No. 7.8)

Note: The “MULTIPLIER” box marked will multiply the total stake for the Game Area/s you
have filled on your coupon. A player will not be able to make use of the multiplier, if in any
Game Area of the coupon the player plays the Quaterno Plus game.

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 15

6. Lotto Prizes

6.1 Winning Categories of Lotto

To win, all you have to do is to match your selected numbers with the drawn numbers. The
more numbers you play, the more you increase your winning probabilities.

Following is a table showing the corresponding winning amounts for each Game Type:

Game Type Winning amount Odds

Prima 60 times the stake 1:90

Ambo 215 times the stake 1:400

Terno 3,500 times the stake 1:11,748

When the total value of all prizes, of all game categories, except Quaterno Plus, exceeds
130% of total sales in a particular draw, MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited can reduce each
prize proportionately so that the value of all prizes of these games shall not exceed such an
amount.

Game Type  Winning amount   Odds

Quaterno Plus
€250,000 (or more) when guessing 5 from the 8
1:784,808
Category I  numbers drawn

€750 when guessing 4 from the 8 numbers drawn  1:7,656
Category II

Category III  €50 when guessing 3 from the 8 numbers drawn  1:236

€10 (or more, as may be advertised from MALTCO
LOTTERIES) when guessing two (2) out of the last
Category IV  1:165
three (3) numbers drawn out of the total eight (8)
numbers.

LOTTO Players’ Booklet Page 16

In the event that the Quaterno Plus Category I Prize is not won during a particular draw,
then this prize shall be increased (together with its associated capping) by a minimum
increment of €10,000 (or as may be advised by MALTCO LOTTERIES from time to time)
each week until it is won.

The Quaterno Plus Category I Prize will revert to the minimum amount of €250,000 for the
draw immediately following that in which it has been won and will thereafter increase by the
minimum increment of €10,000 (or as may be advised by MALTCO LOTTERIES from time
to time) per week until it is won.

If in any particular draw, there is more than one winning column in Category I in the
Quaterno Plus game, then the top prize won on the Quaterno Plus in that same draw, will
be split according to the number of winning columns.

If for example, in a particular draw where the Category I prize is €250,000, and Player A
plays a Quaterno Plus fully expanded ticket of 7 numbers and matches 6 numbers, and
Player B plays a Quaterno Plus ticket with 5 numbers and matches all 5 numbers, then
both of them are winners of the top category prize in the Quaterno Plus game. Player A will
win €214,285.71 (6 top winning columns) whilst Player B will win €35,714.29 (1 top winning
category).

Furthermore, in the event that winnings in Category II and Category III in any one draw
exceed seventy percent (70%) of the sales of the Quaterno Plus Game for that particular
draw, MALTCO LOTTERIES may exercise at its discretion the option to limit such winnings
to not less than seventy percent (70%) of the sales of the Quaterno Plus Game for that
draw.

Notwithstanding, MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited reserves the right to choose to pay more
than all the limitations indicated above.
