Welcome!

questions that you may have along the way. Have fun!

Materials:
Crochet hook size: G/4.25mm
Worsted weight yarn: white, gray or ivory (or other color of your choice), and light pink for nose
Yarn needle
One pair of 12 mm safety eyes (also called shank back eyes; they are sold at Etsy, Walmart, your local
craft store, Amazon, ebay, etc.)
Polyester fiberfill stuffing

Final measurement for the finished lamb will be 6 inches tall.

Abbreviations:
ch(s) – chain/chains
sc – single crochet
sts – stitches
dec – decrease st*
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch

*Single crochet decrease stitch explanation:

Insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 2 loops on
the hook. Insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 3
loops on the hook. Yarn over again and pull the loop of yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.

Head
With cream or gray yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (36 sts)
R7: (Sc 5, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (42 sts)
R8: (Sc 6, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (48 sts)
R9-13: Sc 48.
R14: (Sc 6, dec 1), 6 times. (42 sts)
R15: (Sc 5, dec 1), 6 times. (36 sts)
R16: (Sc 4, dec 1), 6 times. (30 sts)
R17: (Sc 3, dec 1), 6 times. (24 sts)
R18: (Sc 2, dec 1), 6 times. (18 sts)
Here, stuff the head. Then place the 12 mm safety eyes 7 stitches apart between R12 and R13 of the
head. Make sure they are stuck into the same row of the head before putting on the backs of the eyes!
R19: (Sc 1, dec 1), 6 times. (12 sts)
R20: (Dec 1), 6 times. (6 sts)
Stuff head firmly. Fasten off and weave in end.

Note: By “weave in end,” I mean thread your yarn tail onto your yarn needle and push it through the
part of the body you're working on and out the other side. Cut off extra yarn so that the end is hidden
inside the head, ear, limbs, etc.

Head Fur
With white yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (36 sts)
R7: (Sc 5, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (42 sts)
Note: These next rows are the most time-consuming and monotonous part of this pattern. You can do it!
Just stick with it, and the rest of the parts of the lamb will be much faster to make. :)
R8-18: Sc 42. (11 total rows)

Fasten off, leaving an extra long tail for sewing.

For the nose:

Before sewing the head fur onto the head, cut a long piece of pink yarn
and using your yarn needle, insert the needle into the head just a stitch
over from the right eye. Pull the needle out about 4 stitches over. Repeat
this step several times until the nose is the desired thickness. Then, insert
the needle just below the center of the nose and pull it out about ½ inch
lower. Insert the needle one last time just below the center of the nose and
pull it out anywhere in the head and snip off the end. (See picture for
recommended nose placement.) Use your crochet hook to pull the knotted end of the yarn into the head
so that it is hidden.

Now, using regular pink thread and a sewing needle, do several simple whip stitches at the edges of
both sides of the nose and tie a knot to hold the pink yarn in place. Using crochet hook, pull the ends of
the threads into the head to hide them.

Once you can see the face all put together, take the white fur you made earlier and slip it onto the head.
Make sure it lines up evenly on all sides, and then sew it on. You could use a whip stitch here and sew
the fur on from the outside, but so that the edge is more distinct, I like to put the yarn needle down
through the top of the edge of the fur and into the head and then out a few stitches over; do this all
around the head until it is sewed on securely.

Weave in end.

Ears (make 2)
With cream or gray yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc), 3 times. (15 sts)
R4-8: Sc 15. (5 total rows)

Fasten off. Leave long tail for sewing. Pinch together the bottom of the ear and using yarn needle, sew
to hold in place. Then sew to the head on the same level as the eyes. Weave in end.

Note: Sometimes, after the ear is securely sewn in place, I like to wrap the remaining yarn around the
base of the ear a couple times and then knot it to cover my stitches. Then weave in the end.

Body
With white yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6-9: Sc 30.
R10: (Sc 3, dec 1), 6 times. (24 sts)
R11: (Sc 2, dec 1), 6 times. (18 sts)
R12: (Sc 1, dec 1), 6 times. (12 sts)
Stuff body.
R13: (Dec 1), 6 times. (6 sts)

Fasten off. Leave long tail for sewing. Sew the body onto the head.

Arms (make 2)
With cream or gray yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc), 3 times (9 sts)
R3: Sc 9.
R4: (Sc 1, dec 1,) 3 times. (6 sts)
R 5-8. Sc 6. (4 total rows)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Weave in ends. Stuff each arm with just a little stuffing.
Position arms onto the body facing forwards, and using yarn needle, sew arms to the sides of the body.
After attaching the arm to the body, I often do several more stitches to get the arm to face more toward
the front, but that is up to your placement preference.

Legs (make 2)
With cream or gray yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4-6. Sc 18.
R7: (Sc 2, dec 1), 6 times. (You will now have 12 sts around.)
R8: (Sc 1, dec 1), 3 times. (9 sts)
R9-12: Sc 9. (4 total rows)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Weave in ends. Stuff both legs. Attach the legs to the sides of
the body just below the arms. (Same as with the arms: after attaching the leg to the body, I often do
several more stitches to get the leg to face more toward the front, but that is up to your placement
preference.)

Tail
With white yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 5 sc in first ch. (5 sts)
R2-4: Sc 5.

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Sew to the back of the body.

And there you go! The baby lamb is complete! To add a collar, simply wrap a pipe cleaner with a bell
on it around the neck and twist in place. If you'd like to add a flower like the one in the picture, here's
how to make one:

Flower
With yarn color of your choice,
R1: Sc 2, 5 sc in first ch.
R2: (Ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, sl st all into the same stitch) – do this 6 times around until you have 6 petals.
Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Sew to head.

Thank you so much for joining me in making a cute baby lamb! Enjoy!
