Document Ref: SJAM-C/SMHB/036 Method Statement for Turfing Revision: 01 Effective Date:31/3/2022 6.2 Type of grass used for turfing Cow grass (Axonopus Compressus) ‘The Axonopus compressus more commonly known as broadleaf carpet grass can be referenced under the symbol AXCO. It has stouter culms and stolons, wider leaves and longer spikeletes which are more acute. Its leaves are 9-12 mm wide and it forms a dense mat over the surface of the ground, seldom reaching a height of more than 15cm. Grass shall be free from momisa, weeds or any other objectionable plants. Cow grass is most common type grass used in Malaysia for turfing. itis excellent capability of erosion prevention together with high endurance is perfect for Malaysia climate through drought or rain season. 6.3 Work Methodology 1. Identify location to be turf, prepare and measured the area so that it easy to estimate how much grass to be used, 2. Clean the ground from debris, removed any dead roots, rocks and existing patches of dying or dead plant lft. 3. The imported topsoil from outside used at top of layer to give a good condition the grass to grow. 4. Two methods of turfing used which is “close turfing” (grass plant without gap in between each other) and “spot turfing” (grass plant with gap in between each other). 5. Close turfing is applied on the slope, the grass shall be put at the ground, the grass planted near between one another with no gaps to cover the ground. Turves shall be hold in position by wooden pegs driven through the turf sods into the ground. 6. Provide a good layer to be turf with average thickness 150mm and light watered. 7. Spot turfing is applying on the flat ground, the grass (200mm x 200mmx 50mm) shall be put at the ground, gap between each grass is around SOmm. 8. Lastly, after complete turfing fertilizer shall be spurted at surface of grass. ‘SKIM JAMINAN AIR MENTAH, SELANGOR (SJAM) Ah A PAKE) C- KERIA-KERIA PEMBINAAN PELENCONGAN SUNGAI, PEMBEKALAN, PEMASANGAN, teen PENGUJIAN DAN PENTAULIAHAN DAN KERJA-KERJA LAIN BERKAITAN DI MUKA SAUK LOJI RAWATAN AIR SSP1, 2 & 3, BESTARIJAYA, KUALA SELANGOR. | Document Ref: SIAM-C/SMHB/036___ Method Statement for Turfing | Revision: 01 Effective Date:31/3/2022 Maintenance Proper Watering © Regularly watering the turfing surface to give the ground moist. © At least watering should be repeated at least one a day until the roots establish. ‘© Ahotter weather more water will be required. Replace © Any turf, shrub and tree not vigorous condition at the time shall be replaced. ‘* How often you fertilize also depends on the intensity of maintenance. * Low maintenance grass requires less fertilization (rainy season - / hotter season) ‘© High maintenance grass is fertilized on a more precision application during the most active growing months. Cutting © Grass cutting play the important part for the maintenance commitment. The grass shall be cut regularly to not higher than 20mm above the ground until the end of the defect liability period. ‘SKIM JAMINAN AIR MENTAH, SELANGOR (SIAM) ; A PAKEI C-KERIA-KERIA PEMBINAAN PELENCONGAN SUNGAI, PEMBEKALAN, PEMASANGAN, PENGUJIAN DAN PENTAULIAHAN DAN KERJA-KERIA LAIN BERKAITAN DI MUKA SAUK LOJI RAWATAN AIR SSP1, 2 & 3, BESTARI JAYA, KUALA SELANGOR. Document Ref: SIAM-C/SMHB/036 Method Statement for Turfing Revision: O1 Effective Date:31/3/2022 7.0 8.0 9.0 ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY & HEALTH REQUIREMENT Safety ‘The Contractor always makes sure all the works carried out is complying with safety requirements, 1. Always make sure the worker wearing PPE such as safety boots, goggles and safety vest when they are operating grass cutting machines 2. Signboard must be placed to warn public that turfing work is in the progress. Environment 1, Take extra precautions on slopes - Applying fertilizers on slopes can lead to the washing away of nutrients. This is how most of these nutrients wind up into our surface waters. 2. Take precautions to control your runoff from property. Do not allow fertilizer to drift onto the streets because this fertilizer will certainly make its way into the storm drains. 3. Store fertilizer materials properly - Keep fertilizer sources from being washed away by rains. Keep them under a shelter and off of the ground so the nutrients want get caught in rain water runoff. QUALITY ASSURANCE The following document would form part of quality requirement: 1. Inspection and test plan 2. Request for inspection 3. Inspection Checklist APPENDICES 1. Form & Checklist 2. Environmental Risk Assessment 3. HIRADC APPENDICES
