more flexible and their contractibility increases. By this, the chances of injuries are reduced.
(ii) Regulates Systems : It regulates the cardiorespiratory system for the coming needs. It increases
the supply of blood to working muscles. More supply of oxygen also reaches the working tissues.
(iii) Increases Energy Level : It regulates the metabolic rate, by this the efficiency of energy
production is improved. It increases the energy sources for working body and thus body can work
            for longer duration.
(iv) Better Responses : With warming-up the neuro-muscular co-ordination becomes more better,
therefore, fast and efficient responses. Reaction time improves as muscles are toned up.
      (v) Improves Concentration : It mentally prepares us for the coming competition. Mind becomes
ready for the coming activity and thus more concentration towards the activity.
(vi) Increases Perfection : Better perfection in the skills, techniques and tactics. The co-ordination
is more, thus results are better. Moreover, confidence develops.
Q.24. How can inclusive education be implemented in India?
Ans. In India, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) joined hands with UNICEF
and launched Project Integrated Education for Disabled Children (PIED) in the years 1987, to strengthen
the integration of learners with disabilities into regular schools. In 2005, the Ministry of Human Resource
Development implemented a National Action Plan for the inclusion in education of children and youth
with disabilities. Furthermore, IEDC was revised and named “Inclusive Education of the Disabled at
the Secondary Stage (IEDSS)” in 2009-10 to provide assistance for the inclusive education of the
Candid Physical Education-11 7
disabled children at 9th and 10th classes. This scheme now subsumed under Rashtriya Madhyamik
Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) from 2013. It is important to integrate these children into regular schools
to help them socialise and build their confidence.
There are following measures for better implementation of Inclusive Education in India:
        1. The Right to Education (RTE) must apply to all citizens of India. State and central Governments
as well as all the other social actors should recognize the importance of a broadened concept of
inclusive education that addresses the diverse needs of all learners.
        2. A policy of inclusion needs to be implemented in all schools and throughout Indian education system
(NCF, 2005). Schools need to become centers that prepare children for life and ensure that all
children, especially the differently abled children from marginalized sections, and children in difficult
circumstances get the maximum benefit of this critical area of education.
        3. The preparation of teachers for rural special education programmes should be planned differently,
as the aim of these programmes would be integrate disabled persons in their own environment
            and community.
        4. As a system, inclusive education should be flexible. Its flexibility must be reflected in the methods
and materials used to give these children the widest possible access to the regular curriculum.
        5. A school-based support team should develop strategies for the whole school to meet the needs of
learners with special educational needs. This team should also be a resource for teachers
            experiencing problems in their classrooms.

the tensions of players, thus, enhances performance and develops self-confidence.
                                                        Or
Growth : Growth means increase in size, height, length or weight. The term growth implies an
increase in size. When a body or any part is described as having growth it usually means that it
             has become larger and heavier.
Development : Development means change in shape, form or structure so as to improve in working
or functioning. Growth and development go side by side. Development implies certain qualitative
changes or changes in character leading to maturity of improvement in functioning. Arms grow
large but also develop by undergoing certain changes which equip them for better work.

Q.28. Explain about the somatotypes in detail.
                                                        Or
       Explain three elements of Yoga.
Ans. It is a classification of human body according to its shape and physique. It was developed by W.H.
Sheldon. He classified the human body in terms of three extreme body types.
      (a) Endomorphic : An Endomorphic person is generally stocky with large round body or pear shaped
body, short thick neck, short arms and legs, wide hips and shoulder, wider front rather than side to
side, lot of fat on body and tendency of body to store fat. Endomorphs rate poorly on physical
fitness level and so make poor athletes.
      (b) Mesomorphic : A Mesomorphic person would strongly built with broad muscular chest and
shoulder, very muscular arms and legs and little body fat. They are medium in height, narrow hips,
narrow from back than side to side. They are good in strength, speed and agility (coordinative
ability). They have average endurance and flexibility. They are good in almost every sports.
       (c) Ectomorphic : Ectomorphic individual is long, slender and thin, high forehead, recording chin,
narrow shoulder and hips, narrow chest and abdomen, thin arms and legs, little or lean muscles
and very low fat. They have less strength, perhaps not suitable for strong activities. Ectomorphs
dominate in endurance and flexibility activities, thus good in long distance races, etc.
                                                        Or
        (i) Yama : There are universal commandments or morality guidelines for good behaviour in society.
In other words, these are the basic principles for the benefit of society. They are named as :
               (a) Ahimsa (Non-violence) (b) Satya (Truthfulness)
               (c) Asteya (Non-stealing) (d) Brahmacharya (Celibacy)
               (e) Aparigraha (Absence of lust)
(ii) Niyam : These are personal observances or self-purification by discipline. In other words, these
are principles for making individual healthy. These consist of hygienic habits, proper diet, rest &
sleep, daily routine, proper work self-discipline etc. They are named as :
               (a) Sauch (Purification) (b) Santosh (Contentment) (c) Tapas (Asceticism)
               (d) Swadhayaya (Study) (e) Ishwara, Pranidhana (Dedication to God)
(iii) Asanas : Asana is third step of yoga (as in Ashtang Yoga) after Yama and Niyam. Asanas are
slow stretching activities in which holding a body posture brings stability to body and poise to mind.
Asanas are categorised under three types such as :
           (a) Cultural Asanas (Vyayam) : For body fitness, good posture and optimum fitness and health.
 10 Candid Physical Education-11
           (b) Meditative and Relaxative Asanas : For improving mental activities, concentration and
                relaxation of body.
           (c) Therapeutic Asanas : For curing various health problems.
These Asanas are performed in standing, sitting, lying (proline and supine lying) or inverted postures.
The warming-up in yoga is performed with Surya Namaskar (Sun Salute stretching). These are slow
stretching activities in which heart rate, breathing rate and body temperature remain normal. The effects
of Asanas are internally felt and not observable. It improves physical and mental ability to a great
extent. It increases the concentration and controls our behaviour. To show the positive effects of Asanas
is a long process whereas the results are permanent. It also cures various diseases and chronic health
problems, thus it has therapeutic effects. It improves physical fitness along with good health to great
       extent.

Responsibilities of Occupational Therapists : Occupational therapists (OTs) are the health care
professionals who work with children in a variety of settings, including schools. The OTs educate the
teachers and parents about how special children typically develop motor skills and how to promote
this development in the classroom and at home. As children grow and develop, they learn to do many
things, including taking care of themselves, managing their school work, playing sports or developing
       a leisure interest/ hobby.
Responsibilities of Physical Education Teacher : Physical education teachers, commonly known
as Physical Training Instructor (PTI) or P.E. teachers, are responsible for the education of primary
and secondary school students in physical activity and psychomotor learning. Recent developments
have steered the physical education curriculum towards the goal of overall wellness and teachers
now incorporate health and nutrition topics into their classes. Generally, physical education teachers
instruct students in a variety of physical activities relevant to curriculum requirements. While teachers
are typically allowed to create their own course syllabi, those outlines must adhere to school guidelines
as well as the curriculum standards set out by governing bodies in the state, region or country.
